Today we were honored to join the Society of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel of Enfield as they celebrated the Outdoor Mass at the Chapel of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, marking their 100th Anniversary.

Congratulations to the Society on this remarkable milestone. For a century, they have faithfully preserved their devotion to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the cherished traditions of our Italian-American community. May Our Blessed Mother continue to watch over your society for generations to come.

In keeping with a long-standing tradition and the strong bond between our communities, members of the Springfield Sons & Daughters of Italy / Società della Madonna del Carmine were honored to be present, including Club President Salvatore Circosta, Feast Co-President Ricky Albano, and other members of our organization.

The Springfield Sons & Daughters of Italy proudly congratulate our own soccer team, Mount Carmel FC on capturing the 2026 PVSSL Men’s League Championship with a tremendous 2-0 victory over Rumbleseat last night!

This championship reflects the hard work, determination, and passion that this team has displayed throughout the entire season. More than just a soccer club, Mount Carmel FC proudly represents the rich Italian heritage, faith, and spirit of our Springfield community every time they step onto the field.

2026 PVSSL Men’s League Champions

Congratulations to our 2026 Men’s division champions, Mount Carmel!

Today, Italy and the global soccer community mourn the passing of Franco Baresi, one of the greatest defenders the sport has ever known. Born in Travagliato in 1960, Baresi rose from humble beginnings to become the heartbeat of AC Milan and a pillar of the Azzurri, embodying the discipline, loyalty, and quiet strength that define the best of Italian character.

Across two decades with Milan, Baresi captained the club through its golden era — lifting 6 Serie A titles, 3 European Cups, and earning a reputation as the ultimate “libero,” a master of anticipation and elegance in defense. His leadership transcended the pitch: he was a mentor, a symbol of resilience, and a reminder that greatness is built through dedication and humility.

For Italian Americans, Baresi’s legacy resonates deeply. He represented the values passed down through generations — family, perseverance, honor, and pride in one’s roots. His story is one of commitment to craft and community, a model for all who carry Italian heritage in their hearts.

Today, we honor Franco Baresi not only for his extraordinary career, but for the example he set: a life lived with integrity, passion, and devotion to the game he loved.

The past few weeks the melodrama of the Nazionale has been like that of a soap opera.

After losing Guardiola as a potential coach and then unfortunate resignations of Maldini and Leonardo as technical director and advisor, the new Azzurri start seemed thrown into chaos.

Today FIGC president Malagò announced and presented the duo of Roberto Mancini and Claudio Ranieri as coach and technical director of the next Azzurri adventure. Both have the task of rebuilding Italy.

After a series of questions from journalists, Mancini remarked "I am here to redeem myself and to bring Italy back where it deserves to be."

The first new opponent will be Belgium on September 24th for the Nations League. Will we be ready?
