It’s been a busy week in Normal!

While our focus should be on the midterms in November, municipal candidates like myself have been pounding the pavement since July, gathering signatures to get on the ballot.

I had the pleasure of joining WZND Fuzed Radio Station, ISU’s nationally recognized, student-run radio station, on their Drive-Thru Normal segment. It was a great interview where listeners got to know more about me, my campaign for Town Council, what I hope to bring to the Town of Normal, and, of course, my go-to DP Dough order!

I was also invited to speak at Normal Women Rising, a grassroots movement focused on civic engagement and mutual aid, at their latest meeting. A special thank you to Kathleen Shirk for welcoming me and giving me the opportunity to talk about my goals and vision for the Town of Normal.

I capped off the week by joining a panel hosted by the Rural Civic Engagement Institute at ISU’s Alumni Center. At this nonpartisan event, I had the opportunity to speak with juniors and seniors from rural high school districts, as well as first- and second-year ISU students, about the importance of advocacy and activism.

There’s still a lot of work ahead, but I’m grateful for every opportunity to listen, learn, and share why I’m running for Town Council.

During my last visit to NYC in 2025, I took the subway from Midtown to Lower Manhattan to visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. When you enter One World Trade Center and take the escalators down into the underground exhibits there is an immense weight that hits you.

While there are a countless photos, phone calls, and items on display, this one in particular stood out to me.

While it’s important to remember those who lost their lives from the attack, we can’t forget those who suffered long term health problems as a result of contaminant exposure.

As we reflect on the 25th anniversary of 9/11, it’s important to remember that there are still people suffering from the consequences of an event that happened before I was born, and this exhibit continues to stay with me.

Come join us as at Coffeehouse this Saturday, September 5th for an amazing mutual aid event to hear some guest speakers, eat some food, and listen to some karaoke and open mic! Donations such as non-perishable food items or clothing are heavily encouraged! Don’t forget to RSVP!!

Casey’s run after a successful day of gathering signatures to get on the ballot for Normal Town Council and lit dropping for Joshua Crockett for McLean County Clerk!

Special shout out to College Democrats at Illinois State University President Zach Stoeger and Secretary Joe Polizzi, as well as my good friend Sam for knocking doors with me!

Running for office is a lot like a job interview, except with a couple (thousand) extra bosses. Here are my remarks during my kick off event!
