Six months is when they stop feeling like a tiny newborn and start feeling like *them*.

The smiles get bigger.

That is why I love 6 month milestone sessions so much.

They are simple, sweet, and focused on all the tiny details that make this stage so fun — before they are crawling away, pulling up, and suddenly looking like a toddler.

The grandma photos always get me.

There is something so special about seeing a brand-new baby held by the person who once held their parent the same way.

Newborn photos are not only about how tiny your baby is.

This is one of my favorite parts of maternity sessions.

I get to photograph the waiting.

The wondering.
The excitement.
The last little stretch before this baby is in their arms.

And then, so often, I get to meet that same baby at their newborn session just a few weeks later.

That part never gets old.

Studio maternity photos are beautiful on their own, but they also become the beginning of the story — the “before we met you” chapter.

And that is exactly why I love when families document both.

Newborn sessions are not baby-only the whole time.

At least not with me.

I usually start with family first — parents, siblings, snuggles, and all the photos of everyone together while baby is still brand new.

Then we move into baby-only photos after.

That way you get both parts of the story.

The tiny newborn details.

And the people who loved this baby from the very beginning.

Indoor studio sessions make that feel calm, easy, and fully guided so you are not walking in wondering what to do.

These browns and golds were so good for this field location — warm, natural, and just enough contrast to complement everything around them without competing with it.
