Mercy Health — Springfield Cancer Center is inviting cancer survivors, caregivers and community members to its annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, August 8, 1–3 p.m., at Springfield Cancer Center (148 West North Street, Springfield).

The annual gathering offers an opportunity to celebrate survivorship, honor those who have lost their lives to cancer, support individuals currently undergoing treatment and bring the community together in a welcoming, uplifting environment. Guests will enjoy complimentary ice cream and refreshments while connecting with oncology staff and fellow survivors, patients and families.

Sarcoma and bone cancers are rare, but recognizing the warning signs can make a difference. Because symptoms often resemble sports injuries or everyday aches and pains, they can sometimes be overlooked.

Talk with your health care provider if you notice:
• A lump that continues to grow or doesn't go away
• Bone pain that lasts or becomes worse, especially at night
• Swelling near a bone or joint
• An unexplained fracture after a minor injury

While these symptoms are often caused by conditions other than cancer, it's important not to ignore changes that don't improve.
