People often think the Birkin was created as a luxury handbag.
Its ancestor, the Hermès Haut à Courroies (HAC), was actually designed in the 19th century to carry riding boots and equestrian gear.

It was treasured by emperors, scholars, monks, and royalty across Asia. It has been used in ceremonies, meditation, traditional medicine, and perfume for over a thousand years. Itâs particularly popular among Buddhists and often associated with their practice.
