One last photo before they go! 🐻

Today is the final day on site for this crew of millworkers who came from near and as far as Iowa, to help bring our new University Advancement Center to life.

Thank you for your craftsmanship, hard work and the lasting mark you’ve left on our new space. You are honorary Bears for Life!

A BIG Bear has arrived on campus. 🐻 And we mean 9 feet big.

Our new Bear head is officially in place outside the Clifton M. Smart III University Advancement Center at National Avenue and Bear Boulevard, ready to welcome Bear Nation at one of the gateways to campus.

We can’t wait for you to take photos with it, but not quite yet! The center remains an active construction site, and our new grass needs a little time to settle in before our Nov. 11 ribbon cutting.

For now, admire our newest Bear from the sidewalk. If you’re walking by, snap a selfie with it in the background and tag us. 📸

We asked our staff about fall, campus life and what makes this time of year at Missouri State so special. 🐻

Hear what they had to say!

What can more than four decades of generosity make possible?

For the Dunn Family Foundation, it has meant millions of dollars invested in education, human services and community well-being. Rooted in the values of JE Dunn Construction founder John Ernest “Ernie” Dunn Sr., the foundation has helped strengthen communities in Kansas City and beyond for more than 40 years.

In recognition of that lasting commitment to serving others, the Dunn Family Foundation was inducted into the Missouri Public Affairs Hall of Fame.

Every Bear has a story.

For some, it's the excitement of the first day of classes. For others, it's a mentor who made a difference, a scholarship that opened a door, lifelong friendships or the moment they crossed the commencement stage.

This fall, the Clifton M. Smart III University Advancement Center becomes a place where those stories are celebrated, shared and continued.

Because every generation of Bears builds on the one before it.

From Missouri State to the global stage, Dr. Ken Rutherford has dedicated his career to protecting people affected by armed conflict.

A former Missouri State political science professor, Rutherford helped advance the university’s public affairs mission before going on to co-found the Landmine Survivors Network and help lead the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which received the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.

His work as a scholar, advocate and landmine survivor has made an impact around the world, and this year, he was inducted into the Missouri Public Affairs Hall of Fame.

Before kindergarten became a familiar part of childhood, Susan Blow was helping lead the way.

Known as the “mother of the American kindergarten,” Blow opened an experimental public kindergarten in St. Louis in 1873. Her pioneering work helped transform an educational idea into a movement that would shape early childhood education across the country.

This year, her lasting impact was recognized with the Legacy Award as she was inducted into the Missouri Public Affairs Hall of Fame.
