The Springfield College men's soccer team defeated Worcester State, 3-2, on Tuesday night on Brock-Affleck Field.

Connor Policarpio (Briston, Conn.) led the way offensively for Springfield, scoring twice, including the game-winning goal, while Cooper Kassan (Huntington, N.Y.) added a goal as well.

The Springfield College Department of Athletics and the School of Physical Education, Performance and Sports Leadership have announced the hiring of Jeff Stern '20 as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant Professor of Strength and Conditioning.

“A special thanks is owed to Adam and Mary Kate Feit who continue to change the game and have been integral in this opportunity to be back here and also Brian Thompson whose shoulders I stand on in this position,” said Stern. “The last few years I have been lucky enough to train athletes at the highest level. Now I get the opportunity to coach the coaches at the highest level. These coaches then leave here to create their own legacy and move the field forward. It doesn't get better than that."

Springfield College seniors Mike Mendicino (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) and Nick Gonzalez (Parsipany, N.J.) both received New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly awards for the fourth week of the 2026 season. Mendicino was named Defensive Athlete of the Week, while Gonzalez was named Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
