On this POW/MIA Remembrance Day, we bow our heads and lift our hats to the military warriors who never made it back. Freedom isn't free—it’s paid for by those who stood the line.

We will NEVER forget.

Meetings with VA mental health and homeless programs. Conversations continue as to how we can support our military. Then we will have meetings for our first responder programs. Everyone can do something and we will do our part in that mission.

Honoring Extraordinary Service and Valor: Alaska State Trooper Nathan Hollenbeck Presented with the Warriors and Rodeo Salute to Service Buckle

Warriors and Rodeo is proud to recognize Alaska State Trooper and rodeo competitor Nathan Hollenbeck with the prestigious Warriors and Rodeo Salute to Service Buckle. This recognition honors Trooper Hollenbeck's heroic, lifesaving actions and his dedication to public service both in uniform and within the western sports community.

Trooper Hollenbeck rescues man from Tanana River

Around 2:30 a.m. on May 29, Trooper Hollenbeck was called from sleep while on standby to respond to a report of a man struggling in the Tanana River. He arrived at the scene within minutes of the 911 call and found the victim approximately 15 feet below a steel dock.

After securing a tow strap to his patrol vehicle and attempting to lower it to the man—who was too hypothermic to grasp it—Trooper Hollenbeck fashioned a makeshift rescue harness around himself. He called for medics with a boat or hoist and then descended toward the victim, entering the icy water.

For roughly 30 minutes, Trooper Hollenbeck kept the man’s head above water until a rescue boat arrived. Both were severely hypothermic and transported to a local hospital.

Because of Trp. Hollenbeck’s selfless and swift actions, the man survived and was released from the ICU several days later.

Official Executive Commendation: Governor Mike Dunleavy and Public Safety Commissioner James Cockrell formally presented Trooper Hollenbeck with the Commissioner's Commendation for Bravery during a ceremony at the Governor's office, recognizing his extraordinary selflessness and commitment to the State of Alaska.

Exemplifying the Mission of Warriors and Rodeo: In addition to his law enforcement career, Trooper Hollenbeck actively represents Warriors and Rodeo as a bull rider, double mugging, and chute do***ng. He doesn't just wear the badge—he’s spearheading the new Warriors and Rodeo Law Enforcement branch to support his fellow officers. His conduct exemplifies the organization's core values of service, resilience, and brotherhood.

We commend Trooper Nathan Hollenbeck for his unwavering bravery and service to the State of Alaska and the western heritage community.

Among the dust and fallen rubble of Ground Zero and the Pentagon, nearly 300 search and rescue dogs worked tirelessly alongside first responders, searching through heat and toxic fumes for survivors and bringing closure to grieving families.

We will Never Forget. Patriot Day 9/11. We also never will forget the sacrifices of those who joined the military after 9/11. We have numerous members who joined the military, law enforcement, EMS, and firefighters in response to the terrorist attacks. Thank you for your sacrifices.

Soldiers from the 3rd Infantry render honors as fire fighters and rescue workers unfurl a huge American flag over the side of the Pentagon as rescue and recovery efforts continued following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack. The flag, a garrison flag, sent from the US Army Band at nearby Fort Myer, Virginia, is the largest authorized (20 x 38) flag for the military. Shortly after 8 AM on September 11, 2001 five members of Al-Qaida, a group of fundamentalist Islamic Muslims, hijacked American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757-200, from Dulles International Airport just outside Washington DC. About 9:30 AM they flew the aircraft and 64 passengers into the side of the Pentagon. The impact destroyed or damaged four of the five "rings" in that section that circle the building. That section of the Pentagon was in the finishing stages of a renovation program to re-enforce and update the building. Fire fighters fought the fire through the night. The Pentagon attack followed a similar attack, two hijacked passenger planes flown into the twin towers of the New York World Trade Center, on the same day, in what is being called the worst terrorist attack in history.
