We are incredibly honored to have received a Community Impact Award today at the Clark County Fair in recognition of our longstanding partnership with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
Many years ago, someone from the Sheriff department asked Dr. King if he would sponsor the medical care of their K-9 officers. Without hesitation, he said yes.
That commitment to serving our community became part of Northside’s culture. Dr. King continues to lead by example, and when Drs. Mack and Schumann purchased Northside in 2018, continuing our partnership with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office was never in question.
It has been our privilege to care for these incredible K-9 officers and support the deputies and handlers who rely on them every day to help keep our community safe.
Thank you to the Clark County Commissioners for this meaningful recognition, and to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for trusting us with the care of your K-9 team. We are proud of this partnership and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving those who serve our community. 🐾💙🚔

So proud of you, Gabby! 🐾🐶🐮🐱🐐🐷🥰

I had the privilege of having Gabriella Halderman shadow my office in Columbus today. Gabriella is a recent Clark CTC graduate who is heading to Sinclair Community College to be a Veterinary Technician.

Besides being in 4H, she is also a Clark County Fair Queen candidate who drove all the way to Columbus, just to see how government works up close.

Among other things, she attended a Controlling Board hearing where we discussed how we are spending your tax dollars. She also met the Ohio House Clerk and the Senate President’s Chief of Staff.

Gabby and I discussed legislation I have worked on regarding everything from farm equipment on highways to the # of chicks you’re allowed to buy at a farm store.

I also asked her to review House Bill 664 that would expand her responsibilities as a Vet Tech. It just passed the Ohio House and we will hold hearings in the Senate when we return in the Fall.

I am excited to see someone genuinely interested in how government works. Her enthusiasm made a long day a little brighter.

☀️ Heat Stroke Precautions for pets and livestock ☀️

With the extreme heat in our area, please take extra precautions to keep your pets and livestock safe.

🐶 Dogs: Keep them indoors as much as possible and use enrichment toys, puzzle feeders, or indoor activities to keep them busy. Avoid outdoor exercise, especially on hot pavement, which can burn paw pads and quickly lead to overheating.

🐄 Cattle: Make sure their regular water trough is full and easily accessible. It is also a good idea to provide an extra bucket of water with electrolytes available for drinking.

🐰 Rabbits: Move cages into the shade and place frozen water bottles in their enclosures throughout the day so they have a cool place to rest.

🐷 Pigs: Provide plenty of fresh water and create a muddy area where they can cool off and rest.

🐴🐄🐷 Equine, cattle, goats, sheep and pigs: Fans in stalls are helpful if possible, along with shade, ventilation, and constant access to water. You can use a hose to cool off horses, but only in the very early morning or late night, starting with their feet and moving upward.

Heat stroke can become life-threatening very quickly. If you are concerned your animal may be overheating, move them to a cooler area and contact your veterinarian immediately.
