We are heartbroken by the passing of Ed Cohen, owner of Ed Cohen Photography, a longtime Chamber member, and a treasured friend to so many throughout Greater Springfield.

For decades, Ed helped our community see and remember itself. He was behind the camera for countless Chamber gatherings, nonprofit fundraisers, ribbon cuttings, celebrations, and milestones across Springfield and the surrounding region. His photographs did more than document these occasions; they captured the people, relationships, and moments that make this community so special.

There was a comfort in seeing Ed at an event. You knew he would be there with his familiar warmth and steady presence, quietly making sure its most meaningful moments were preserved. He had an extraordinary ability to recognize the moments people would want to remember and capture them with beauty, authenticity, and care.

Ed’s impact was also deeply personal. So many people throughout our region can look back through the years and find an Ed Cohen photograph of themselves—an image that brings them back to a proud accomplishment, a joyful celebration, a meaningful connection, or simply one of the best days of their lives. Through his work, Ed became part of those memories, too.

People are the backbone of a community, and Ed was truly part of the backbone of ours. His absence will be felt profoundly, not only by the organizations whose histories he helped preserve, but by generations of people who were fortunate enough to know him and experience his kindness.

We extend our deepest condolences to Ed’s family, friends, and everyone mourning this tremendous loss. His legacy will live on through the countless images he created, the memories he preserved, and the community he spent decades helping us see more clearly.

Ed will be deeply missed.
