2026 Training Seminar

We’re excited to announce the lineup for the 2026 Friends of the Springfield Professional Firefighters Training Seminar on December 11 at Clark State College.

Featuring:

$50 admission includes lunch and CEU hours.

This event is open to the public and is a fun, family-friendly evening for the community. Bring the kids out for an evening of decorated trunks, candy, and Halloween fun.

We are welcoming individuals, local businesses, organizations, and community groups to participate by setting up a trunk and handing out candy.

We are very happy and incredibly proud to present this check today to Muscular Dystrophy Association!

This year with our annual Fill the Boot Drive, YOU the citizens of Springfield were able to raise $23,612.58. Today we handed over that check to MDA so they can continue to put that money to good use supporting those affected by Muscular Dystrophy directly. MDA helps provide education, equipment, and funding to medications and treatments to individuals all across the country and beyond.

This donation is not possible without the unbelievable Kindness and Generosity of everyone willing and able to give their hard earned money. Currently we sit right behind the city of Cleveland in donations received this year and that speaks volumes about ALL of the amazing individuals who took the time to drive by and see us, Fill the Boot and show up once again to give in a BIG way!

Thank you to our volunteers, BOX 27 Associates, Springfield Fire Rescue Division and City of Springfield, Ohio - Government for the support and allowing us to take over an intersection once again. It’s a group effort and we are proud of the work done this year.

Thank you again to all who donated and gave a kind word, we’ll see you out there again next year holding up that boot!

As we stand with the rest of Nation in remembrance of the victims, families and first responders who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. Our thoughts are on their memory and the lessons learned, so that we may honor them with our actions today. The lives lost and impacted to this day are in our hearts and will Never Be Forgotten.

To our crews working today, and all of the responders who stand ready to respond to any call for service. Be safe, take care of each other, and thank you for continuing to proudly serve your Community.

We are just TWO DAYS AWAY! This Wednesday Thursday and Friday you will be seeing your members of Local 333, the Springfield Fire Rescue Division and Box 27 collecting donations and Filling the Boot to help support MDA.

We will be out in the intersection of McCreight and Fountain and we are excited to see our Springfield community.

Please be careful as you progress through this area, help us keep our Firefighters and the commuters safe!

Traffic may move a little slower as we will be doing our best to collect donations efficiently and we appreciate your understanding!

This past week two of our members raised their hand and offered their time to attend the National Honor Guard Academy.

Local 333 and its members outfit an Honor Guard to be present at formal events, funeral services and many other activities that come up throughout the year.

This is a task that is taken on with the utmost respect and professionalism any time they are called upon and by attending this weeks training Brother Schwab and Brother Reynolds have not only expanded their own skills and knowledge but will be able to come back and help the entire team improve as well.

Today, 10 firefighters were forced into 12-hour overtime assignments!

This means:
-1/3 of the of the Firefighters who worked their shift yesterday were forced to work again today.
-3 firefighters are now working their second consecutive forced tour.
-Another 3 firefighters stepped up voluntarily to help cover staffing shortages.

That’s the current problem. Kicking the Can and the City continuing to treat overtime as the answer to covering shifts.

Heres the answer. We need the city to hire more firefighters. We need our authorized strength to increase. There are individuals who have taken the tests and signed up to be considered. It’s time to fill the seats the right way and for the City to hire more firefighters.
