It's been a great week at IC, with plenty of learning and fun activities all around the building.

If you peeked in, you might have seen students practicing building number lines, learning how to draw pandas, or visiting with a former prosecutor! There were plenty of read alouds, students collaborating on their work, and pulling lessons from their Bibles.

💚Thankful Thursday 💚
Today we’re giving a BIG shoutout to our Home & School team, the people behind so many of the fun extras that make IC feel like a community! 🎉
They plan, organize, volunteer, coordinate, send messages, find helpers, solve last-minute problems, and somehow keep smiling through all of it. 😂 Whether it’s a special event, a treat for our students and staff, a fundraiser, or one of the countless little things happening behind the scenes, chances are Home & School had a hand in it!
They give their time and talents simply because they love our school and want to make it an even better place for our students. 💚
So today, we’re thankful for this crew and all of our Home & School volunteers!
And if you ever hear the words “Home & School has an idea…” just know something fun is probably coming. 😄

🌟 Witness Wednesday 🌟
Sometimes living out our faith looks like prayer, sometimes it looks like service, and sometimes it looks like standing outside in a very hot car line when you absolutely could have stayed in the air conditioning. ☀️🥵

The last few days, our car lines in the afternoon have been hot, hot, HOT!! Thankfully our instructional aides are still willing to be out in the sun making sure our students get to their cars safely. Thank you to Ms. Curtis, Mrs. Langenberg, and Mrs. Trimble!!

And students, you can help us practice a different kind of Christian virtue during car line: HUSTLE. 😂 When you hear your name, grab your things, get moving, and hop in! Every second counts when your teachers are slowly roasting on the sidewalk. ☀️🔥

📚 Teaching Tuesday 🪶

History, now available in miniature!!

As part of their study of Native American cultures, students created dioramas to demonstrate what they’ve learned about the homes, environments, resources, and ways of life of different Native American peoples.

Projects like these give students a chance to take what they’ve learned from a textbook and build it with their own hands, combining research, creativity, and plenty of tiny details! And maybe how to use a hot glue gun along the way....watch out fingers 🏕️🌾

💙 Mission Monday ✝️

For the month of September, our students are modeling their lives after Saint Teresa of Calcutta. The are reminded by her example that living our faith doesn't require grand gestures but simple acts of kindness through service for others.

The Radiating Christ prayer was a favorite of Mother Teresa and a prayer she prayed daily. Its message is simple but powerful: May others encounter Christ through us.

MY our students radiate Christ through their words, service and love for one another.

✈️ Fun Friday 🇺🇸

This week may have been short, but it was packed full of learning!

We had a prayer service for 9/11, with our color guard bringing in the flags, to 5th grade students practicing their engineering skills building paper air planes. Math class got to move around the room and PreK performed a science experiment with tasting apples 🍎🍏. 7th grade got to be creative in Social Studies, building dioramas for their native American unit while the Lego robotics met for the first time! 🤖

💚 Thankful Thursday 🙏🏻

Today, we just want to send out a heartfelt thank you to our middle school teachers!

This year has asked just a little bit more of them, from adjusting classroom locations, dreaming up new routines, and keeping students up beat while the situation may be a little less than ideal. They're still making sure the students feel supported, challenged, and loved!!

There have been inconveniences and challenges to say the least, but we're so thankful that these teachers are handling everything with grace and a smile for their students. We know how much effort it's taken to make things feel normal for our students on their Middle School Island. 🏝️ Thanks for laughing at the silly stuff, being flexible through the planning, and bringing your best selves every day.

✝️ Witness Wednesday 💻

When our students gather together twice a week for mass, there's a lot going on quietly behind the scenes to help everything come together.

Shout out to Ms. Zeidler and Mrs. Shockley who work diligently to prepare our mass slides, organize the information ahead of time, and make sure our technology is running smoothly for every mass. Thanks to them, our students can follow along with the gospels and know the lyrics to all the songs 🎶 They even come in with an assist for Father Dave for homilies and videos!!

It's a small but important service our teachers give to our students. Thank you for using your gifts to serve IC, Ms. Zeidler and Mrs. Shockley 💚☘️

🏀 Nothing but Net 🔤✏️

4th grade took some time off from paper and pencil and hit the "court" with a little classroom basketball.

If students spell the word correctly, they get a chance to score some points for their team! Suddenly, reviewing spelling words becomes a lot more fun with a little cheering and friendly competition involved.

Who knew spelling would require a solid three point shot??

Learning is more fun when we get creative 💚
