Meet George Pyck, Senior VP of Technical Services

George has been part of CPS since the beginning—and more than a decade later, the people are still one of his favorite parts of the job.

A New Jersey native with deep experience in powder conveying and metering systems, George came to Springfield for the opportunity to build something meaningful and raise his family in a great community.

“It’s a good feeling to work at a company where everyone appreciates you.”

That appreciation goes both ways. George takes pride in tough work, finished jobs, happy customers, and being surrounded by smart people who greet each other with a smile.

Fun fact: long before CPS, George was already building things—like go-karts made from scrap wood and nails.

If the blend is good at the mixer and bad at the press, the mixer may not be the problem.

We have seen powders separate during perfectly ordinary steps: a long free-fall into a drum, a trip across the plant, or manual feeding into the next process. On one project, the answer came from mapping the whole material path and reducing the places where gravity and handling could undo the blend. That led to a custom transfer hopper and controlled EZ-Down discharge—not a new recipe.

The best question in a design review does not always come from engineering.

Filling the bin fuller does not always get you more usable production.

Tumble blending needs space for the powder to move, fold, and cross-flow. Push the fill level too far and you can take away the movement that creates a uniform blend. We often start around two-thirds of the container's water-fill volume, then work with the actual formulation, geometry, speed, and sampling plan to find the right operating window. The target is repeatability—not simply the biggest number on the batch sheet.

Sometimes the hardest part of the blender project is the building around it.

A nutritional supplement manufacturer needed more capacity, but the available ceiling height was not going to move just because the batch size did. So the project became a team exercise: how do we load, blend, discharge, clean, and move a 5,000-liter system through the room they actually have? CPS integrated the blender, bin lift, shuttle, cleaning system, and recipe controls around those real-world limits.

Most containment problems are hiding at the handoff.

Drum to booth. Bin to reactor. Isolator to downstream equipment. Process vessel to cleaning.

That is where seals, motion, gravity, operator movement, and controls all have to agree. Treating transfer devices as accessories is how dust, spills and workarounds sneak into a line.

A bin can behave beautifully until it has to empty.

Hopper angle, outlet size, valve style, surface finish and the transition into the discharge all affect what happens at the bottom of an IBC. Storage is one job. Reliable discharge is another.
