Remember when your parents said tattoos would keep you from getting a job?
Weird… cause we’re literally at work.

Good morning fellow tattoo lovers! It’s Alice! I hope you all have a good day today! Make sure you’re moisturizing your tattoos before going into the sun, wear sunscreen!

Fun fact for you today! Your tattoo artist (yes us), can absolutely tell when you didn’t eat before your appointment. The cold sweats and green around your eyes are usually a giveaway. Funny thing about it is, sometimes it’s just your bodies natural defense against trauma. Before a tattoo appointment, you want foods that give you steady energy and keep your blood sugar stable. Getting tattooed is physically demanding, and showing up on an empty stomach can make you feel lightheaded, shaky, nauseous, or even cause you to faint.

So to prevent puking on us, or exorcist vomiting across the shop on someone’s shoes or lap, or falling out of the chair like a damsel in distress, make sure you eat a good meal, and drink some water.

Tattoo Facts of the Day: 🖤

1: Your tattoo artist isn’t “taking a break” every few minutes… we’re preventing our backs from filing a workers’ comp claim. 😂 A tattoo session can have us hunched over in awkward positions for hours at a time, and even a quick stretch helps keep the lines straight and the artist functioning. So yes, the little stretch break is actually part of making sure you get the best tattoo possible. Your artist’s spine thanks you for your patience. 🤘

2: Yes, we ask if you ate before your appointment.
No, we’re not judging your breakfast choices.
We’re just trying to keep you from seeing Jesus halfway through your outline.

3: Moisturize your tattoo.
Don’t marinate it.
There’s a fine line between “hydrated” and “slippery rotisserie chicken.”

4: We can absolutely tattoo over stretch marks and scars…But we can’t tattoo over bad decisions you made in yesterday’s text messages. Obviously kidding, but seriously we can’t. 😂

We love you guys! We’re thankful for you! Come see us at the Peso and book with any of the amazing artists or piercers! As always much love!

Hey all, it’s Alice! 🦇

Wanted to talk about a controversial topic all depending! An influx of in home “tattoo artists” have waved in more so recently. With the economy in the state it’s in, it might seem easier to get tattooed out of someone’s house but that’s not true! For as long as anyone can probably remember, tattoo parties are a thing, getting a tattoo while you’re drunk in a house or just randomly, we’ve all been there. But tattoos aren’t meant to be done in such an unsafe environment and I’m here to explain.

Tattooing out of your house in Ohio is generally illegal unless the studio is fully separated from your living quarters and under health code. Under Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3701-9, the business must be a LICENSED facility, have a dedicated entrance, meet strict sanitation and zoning codes, and pass regular inspections by your local health department. Operating an unpermitted home studio (colloquially called "scratching") violates Ohio Revised Code Section 3730.02 and can result in cease-and-desist orders and criminal charges.

Not only that, but reputable shops and artists are strictly adhered to strict bloodborne pathogen training and cross contamination! Did you know- Hepatitis B can survive on surfaces for at least seven days, and Hepatitis C can last for several days to weeks. Neither of these are good and several other illnesses can be transferred through bodily fluids! When tattooing it becomes an open wound that sprays a 3 foot invisible mist, which is why we have dedicated spaces and cleaning procedures!

With that being said- you also need to research your shop. Depending on the shop not everyone shares these same views or adheres to the same sanitation practices which isn’t a good thing and you need to be careful and look for knowledgeable, reputable artists and a clean shop to avoid infection or any kind of issues! That means clean shop, clean lobby, washing their hands, using gloves, opening fresh needles etc!

Care about your body enough to go somewhere nice and if your worry is money majority of artists can or will offer budget plans on tattoos like we do! We love and appreciate all of our clients and we hope to see you soon! ❤️

❗️Educational post❗️

Many people ask whether new or not how tattoo healing works! Is the redness and swelling normal? Is this clear fluid normal? Why are white bumps appearing on my skin? It itches can I scratch it?

Well to tell you the truth everyone’s body is different! But healing is a similar process for just about everyone!

To be fair- Normal tattoo healing takes 2 to 4 weeks for the surface, but can take up to 6 MONTHS for the deeper layers of skin to settle. What does this mean? Settling for tattoo ink is when it’s healed and it basically sets down into the deeper layers of your dermis, or skin. Kind of like when sand is introduced into the ocean and over time it drifts down to the sea bed and settles!

The healing process involves multiple processes!
Stage 1: Inflammation & Weeping. This means- (Days 1–3)During the first few days, your tattoo is essentially an open wound. Expect redness, mild swelling, tenderness, and warmth. Depending on your health or any underlying conditions it can also cause bruising on rare occasion but this isn’t recommended for everyone! It is also completely normal for the tattoo to leak excess ink, blood, and clear plasma. Plasma is your bodies natural immune systems way of pushing healing to the “wound” and beginning the healing stage ! White blood cells need to do their job!

Stage 2: Peeling & Itching (Days 4–14)The outer layer of skin will begin to dry out and peel, similar to a sunburn. You can have minor scabbing, but again depending on your bodies natural defense, thick layers of scabbing could potentially mean over worked skin and scabbing usually isn’t or shouldn’t be “normal”. Your tattoo may look patchy or dull during this time. It will also become very itchy. Do not pick, scratch, or peel the skin, as this can pull out ink and cause scarring. Some redness can be apparent during this stage in specific places if clothing irritation occurs but shouldn’t be anything severe!

Stage 3: Surface Recovery & Silver Skin (Weeks 3–4)By the end of the second week, most of the peeling should stop. But again this can vary person to person! The skin may look slightly waxy, tight, or have a "silvery" sheen to it. This is normal, fresh skin and will return to its natural finish over the following weeks as the ink settles!

White bumps can also occur if you’re washing too much or over moisturizing! Make sure your moisturized but your skin needs to breathe! Your skin is a living organ too!

Always consult your artist with any questions, and know we’re there if you need us!

❗️If your skin becomes and stays extremely red, swollen, excessively bruised, weeps yellow, green, or begins to show signs of pus this could be a sign of infection and it’s recommended you go to urgent care and be seen by a medical professional ❗️
