State Senator for the 38th District of Illinois, serving Bureau, Grundy, Kendall, LaSalle, Livingston, Putnam and Will counties. Senator Sue Rezin was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in November of 2010, and was then appointed to the Illinois State Senate. She was sworn in as State Senator on December 14, 2010, and has continually represented the 38th Legislative District since then. She was chosen as Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate Republican Caucus in 2021. As a proponent of energy advancement and independence, obtaining equitable education funding reform and improving statewide economic growth, Senator Rezin serves as the Minority Spokesperson on the State Senate Energy and Public Utilities, Education, and Human Rights Committees. She is also a member of the Senate Executive, Health, and Insurance Committees. Senator Rezin helped establish the Grundy County summer internship program. Teaming up with the Grundy Area Vocational Center, the Grundy Economic Development Council, and several local employers, Senator Rezin has helped dozens of students obtain high quality internships. Senator Rezin also established the Illinois Valley Flood Resiliency Alliance (IVFRA). The IVFRA brings communities, local governments, and emergency personnel together to help them prepare for extreme weather events, especially floods, through education, communication, and the purchasing of flood prevention materials. Senator Rezin is a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government's Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. In 2020, Sen. Rezin was chosen as one of the 2020 Women of Excellence Award honorees by the National Foundation for Women Legislators. As a graduate of Augustana College, Senator Rezin earned a degree in International Business and Political Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies. For the past sixteen years, she has been the co-owner and manager of her family’s real estate company.

This morning, I joined State Representative Jeff Keicher and DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Illinois Sheriff Andy Sullivan, at Afton Forest Preserve to honor Deputy Christina Musil with a Memorial Highway Dedication Ceremony.
Christina dedicated her life to serving others, first by answering the call to serve her country and then by protecting the people of DeKalb County. While no sign or ceremony can ever measure what her loss means to her family and those who knew and loved her, this dedication ensures that her name, her service, and her sacrifice will remain a permanent part of the community she served.

It was great to join the Kendall County Board this week as they recognized State Senator Linda Holmes for her many years of service to Kendall County and the State of Illinois as she prepares to retire from the Senate.
Senator Holmes and I have had the opportunity to work together on many issues over the years, and I have always appreciated her willingness to work across the aisle and find common ground for the people of this state.
Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. It has truly been a pleasure working alongside you and serving the people of Kendall County.

The school's role in strengthening our local community and business landscape is impressive.
