Fight Colorectal Cancer

Starting October 1, Lynch syndrome will have its own ICD-10 code. This is an important step for people and families affected by this hereditary condition, which raises the risk of colorectal and other cancers.

Fight CRC's Genetics and Family History Advisory Council worked alongside nearly 150 advocacy organizations, medical societies, and experts to secure the code. It will help researchers identify people with Lynch syndrome in health data and better understand screening, care, and outcomes.

A temporary win for research and screening, but permanent action is still needed. Congress's short-term funding bill maintains funding for these critical programs and delays a proposed OMB rule that could harm cancer research through December 11.
