Dr. Frederick M. "Fritz" Faust

Dr. Frederick M. "Fritz" Faust, 64, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, after a 6 year battle with cancer.

Born September 13th, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to J. Edward and Kathleen (Auckly) Faust, he graduated from Brebeuf Preparatory School in 1980. He obtained a B.S. in Zoology from Butler University in 1984 and an M.S. in Biochemistry in 1988 from Purdue University. During his M.S. research he met his wife Cindy, whom he married in 1989. Fritz and Cindy moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked as a laboratory technician at Baylor College of Medicine for several years, all the while dreaming of being a physician. In 1992 they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1994 he was accepted into Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Fritz decided to go into pediatrics after he realized during his clinical rotations that the only attending physicians who smiled were the pediatricians. From 1998-2001, he pursued a pediatric residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, then worked as a pediatrician in Appleton, Wisconsin before relocating to Springfield, Missouri in 2003. He was employed by Ozarks Community Hospital from 2008 up until his death. Fritz loved his patients and was a fierce advocate for their needs. Heaven help the person whom he perceived was standing in the way of getting the best care for one of them! When not in the office he loved spending time with his family and making them laugh, woodworking, reading (WWII history especially), watching movies, and….CHRISTMAS! Underneath it all was a sincere devotion to his Catholic faith, which he loved sharing with others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Faust, and sister in law Sharon Faust. He is survived by his wife Cindy and his children Hunter, Anna, and Joshua Faust; mother-in-law Theresa Guynn; sisters Debby Faust, Mary Meyers, and Carol Langsford; brothers Joseph, Eric, and Christopher Faust; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 pm until 8 pm Thursday October 1, 2026 in Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home with a rosary service to begin at 7:30 pm. Funeral mass will begin 10:30 am Friday October 2, 2026 in St. Agnes Cathedral. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Barbara Jane Tunnell

Barbara Jane Tunnell, 90, Springfield, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on September 18th, 2026 in Springfield, MO. Barbara was born September 29th, 1935 in Oklahoma City, OK to Harry and Jeanette (Pat) Nellie Bingham Kohlhauff. Barbara had a varied and exceptional career working for numerous businesses, notably IBM as a punch card operator, before moving on as a permanent dental secretary at Dr. Ker's dental practice in Springfield, MO.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Frank Stogsdill. She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Cox (husband Doug), and her grandchildren, Nicholas Stogsdill and Jessica (husband Dallas) Curtis, and great-grandson Buckley James Curtis.

Suzy (Pitt) Morgan

Carol Sue "Suzy" Morgan, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026. God came for Suzy while her family was by her side. She was born in Brighton, Missouri on June 24, 1943, the daughter of Bill and Lena Pitt.

Suzy attended Central High School and was a member of the class of 1961. She worked in multiple fields during her career in and around Springfield.

She lived her life for her family and home. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always put her family before herself and cherished every moment she spent with them. Her incredible skills in the kitchen and fastidious housekeeping will be long remembered.

Suzy faced numerous challenges and obstacles during her lifetime but lived every minute with class, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was born into a world of little means but always had wonderful taste in fashion, decorating, food and w**e. She was known for her beauty as a red- headed, green-eyed lady. She loved movies, music, reading, and everything Elvis. Her favorite places included being outside at sunset and sitting on the beach.

Suzy is preceded in death by her father Bill, mother Lena, sister Billie Marie, her lifelong love Stan, and son Randy.

She is survived by her son Chuck and his wife Melissa; grandchildren Madison and Andy of Springfield and Eric and his family of Gilbert, Arizona.

Rebecca Eileen Freeman

Rebecca Eileen (Phillips) Freeman, age 83, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away in Springfield, Missouri, on September 21, 2026. She was born August 22, 1943, in Rogersville, Missouri; the daughter of the late Jesse L. and Mildred (Jenkins) Phillips. She was united in marriage to Joseph Allen Freeman on July 25, 1987, in Springfield, Missouri.

Rebecca's early educational experiences were at the Sparta Elementary School. After graduating from Sparta High School, she pursued a career in education. Rebecca earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Missouri State University, a Master of Science degree in School Administration from Drury University, and completed additional course work at Missouri Southern University and Truman University. She taught in Missouri public schools and the Greenwood Laboratory School at MSU. Additionally, she taught graduate classes at MSU and worked for the Missouri Reading Initiative, training teachers in current practices of education. Rebecca traveled throughout the states speaking at educational conferences. She also authored and published several works in national refereed journals. She was an active member of educational organizations including Delta Kappa Gamma, International Reading Association, National Association of Laboratory Schools, Missouri Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and others. Rebecca greatly loved and respected the students and teachers with whom she worked.

Rebecca served faithfully in various roles in her church most of her adult life. She assisted as choir director, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School instructor, and youth leader. Rebecca was a member of Hope Church in Springfield. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and her greatest joy was to have all the family together in her home.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Freeman; her son, Gary (Sherry) Nelson of Marshfield, Missouri; her granddaughter Ashlie (Scott) Crosby of St. Charles, Missouri; her grandson, Tyler (Kim) Nelson of Bend, Oregon; her great-grandaughters, Sloan and Fallon Crosby; her sisters, Darlene Robison of Ozark, Missouri, and Jacquelyn (Steve) Copeland of Mansfield, Missouri; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mildred Phillips; her daughter, Shawna Nelson; and her brother, Jesse Phillips.

At Rebecca’s request, only a graveside service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Dodson Cemetery, east of Springfield, on NN highway, under the direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home of Springfield, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Convoy of Hope.

Leah Beth Taylor-Barkett

Leah Beth Taylor-Barkett of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at 6:25 p.m. on September 18, 2026, while in the care of Strafford Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

She was born on November 22, 1940, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, to Mattie Elizabeth (Harney) Taylor and J. Rodney Taylor. She attended Tonkawa High School, graduating with the Class of 1958, and later pursued a music degree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Leah Beth participated in the 1960 Miss Oklahoma Pageant, where she met her future husband, George Barkett, who served as a judge for the event.

On September 29, 1961, Leah Beth married George Barkett in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Fairview, Oklahoma, where George's family resided. Together they raised three sons: George R. II, Broderick, and Terrell.

Leah Beth's love of music remained a defining part of her life. For many years, she served as Choir Director at Fairview Methodist Church, sharing her passion and talent with her congregation. She was also actively involved in the local chapter of the Oklahoma Mother's Club and was honored with a nomination for Mother of the Year. Leah Beth enjoyed bridge luncheons, card games, entertaining family and friends, volunteering whenever needed, and, of course, singing whenever asked.

Her dedication to music extended beyond church and community activities. She coached numerous pageant contestants, taught private voice students, and inspired many aspiring singers throughout the years. In the late 1970s, she returned to college to complete her Bachelor's degree in Music History and Vocal Studies, followed by a Master's degree in Music.

Leah Beth and George were passionate advocates for progressive politics in Oklahoma and on the national stage. Over the years, they supported and hosted many political fundraisers. In 1990, Leah Beth was asked to serve as campaign manager for her dear friend, Terry Neese, during her campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma. Neese became the first woman nominated by a major political party for that office.

Following the passing of her husband, George, in 2012, Leah Beth moved to Springfield, Missouri, to be closer to her sons. She was known and loved by many, never meeting a stranger. Her warm spirit, generosity, and enthusiasm for life left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered, and she will be deeply missed.

Leah Beth was preceded in death by her parents, J. Rodney and Mattie Taylor; her brother, James Taylor; her husband, George Barkett; and her eldest son, George R. Barkett II, who passed away in 2021 in Palm City, Florida.

She is survived by her sons, Broderick Barkett and Terrell Barkett of Springfield, Missouri; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Barkett of Palm City, Florida; and her step-grandson, Michael Yow.

In accordance with her wishes, Leah Beth will be laid to rest beside her parents at Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery in Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Robert & Catherine McArtor

Robert Brown “Bob” McArtor and Catherine Ada “Cathy” Hester McArtor have both gone home to be with the Lord. They met each other on the beach in Florida and were never separated until, after 64 years of marriage, Bob passed away.

Bob was 88 when he passed away September 11, 2021 after suffering with prostate cancer. Cathy was 90 when she passed away September 17, 2026 after her battle with Alzheimer’s. Both had been in the care of Calvert City Nursing and Rehab in Calvert City, Kentucky.

Bob was born August 10, 1933 in Springfield, Missouri to Brown and Lula Mae Luper McArtor. Bob served his country in the US Air Force, worked in the aerospace industry during the Apollo space program, then finished his career in the machine shop business. He loved mules, bluegrass music and making people laugh. He never met a child or a dog who didn’t love him. He could often be found working outside in his garden.

Cathy was born October 26, 1935 in Green River, North Carolina to Michael and Ada Merdel Hester. She grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, graduated from Furman University in 1957. She worked as a social worker, an office manager for the machine shop where Bob was Vice President, and finished her career helping with fundraising and alumni relations in the Development Office at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. She loved to crochet, giving many handmade gifts to her family and friends. She enjoyed being part of the ladies’ social group, the Red Hat Society in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

Bob and Cathy were married in 1957 and started their young family in West Palm Beach, FL, Huntsville, AL and Titusville, FL. Later they moved their two sons and a daughter to Georgetown, KY, with a brief move to Longmont, CO, before returning to Georgetown. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling the country in their RV. They kept in touch with family members, often visiting Bob’s family in Missouri or Cathy’s in Florida. After retirement they moved to Spring Hill, TN and eventually to western Kentucky.

They are survived by their children: Jerry McArtor (Cindy), Tony McArtor, and Bev McArtor Kassis (Dan); grandchildren: Ian McArtor (Becky), Cory McArtor (Adah), Branden McArtor (Gabrie), Kayla McArtor Trani (Patrick), Trevor Kassis, Aidan Kassis and Brenna Kassis; and eleven great-grandchildren. They were preceded in death by their parents and siblings: Jane McArtor Rand, James “Bud” McArtor, Virginia Emma Hester, and Michael J. Hester, Jr.

A joint celebration of life will be held on September 26, 2026 at 3 pm at Herman H Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO 65806.

Tiffany Laca Bowden

April 10, 1994 – September 16, 2026

Tiffany Laca Bowden passed away on September 16, 2026, at the age of 32.

Tiffany was a dreamer, traveler, reader, and beautiful creative spirit. She found joy in Aikido, Japanese and Celtic culture, books, arts and crafts, the outdoors, her beloved cats, and the meaningful connections she formed as a pen pal. With a curious heart and vivid imagination, she saw beauty and possibility in the world around her.

Thoughtful, selfless, and deeply compassionate, Tiffany often placed the needs of others before her own. She loved wholeheartedly and cared deeply for the people in her life. Though she had a gentle heart, she was also strong in her convictions. When it mattered most, Tiffany became a voice in the silence—never afraid to speak up against injustice or unfairness and always willing to stand beside someone who needed an advocate.

Her love for her son, **Vincent **, was one of the greatest joys of her life. Tiffany and Vincent shared many special memories together, from playing video games and visiting Bass Pro Shops to camping and traveling to Canada. These adventures, big and small, reflected the joy, laughter, and closeness they shared.

She is survived by her son Vincent Wulfric Davis, her significant other, Brandon Elkins; her mother, Laca Eileen Densmore, and step-father, Robert Densmore; her father, Timmy Lee Bowden, and his significant other, Virginia Smith; her step-mother, Julie Bowden; and her siblings, Timberlie Wright, Timothy Bowden, Trent Merrill, and Michael Gundy.

Tiffany was preceded in death by her grandfather, Carl Bowden; her sister, Angel M. Densmore; and her brother, Carl E. Bowden.

She also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her and whose lives were touched by hers.

Tiffany will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, courage, curiosity, and the extraordinary depth of her love. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and cared for. Her presence brought warmth to the lives of those around her, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.

Though her time here was far too short, Tiffany’s life mattered deeply. The love she shared and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

She is off on her next adventure.
