We’re in Carbondale, Illinois today for the Southern Illinois Behavioral Health Summit! We’ve already had lots of interest in the CADC Workforce Expansion Grant and have been able to share our literature about the gambling and peer certifications as well. Many of our behavioral health partners, who provide services to the great people of Southern Illinois, are exhibiting too.

Did you know? National Recovery Month was first established in 1989 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Back then, it was called “Treatment Works! Month.”

And work it does! This month is a time to acknowledge that behavioral health is essential to overall health, and to spread the word that prevention works, treatment is effective, and recovery is possible for everyone.

IDHS encourages Illinoisans to use to help normalize recovery and raise awareness about the many paths to recovery.

✨ Meet Adriana Trino! In 2012, she became the first Latina to serve as Executive Director of the Latino Treatment Center . Her agency is the only one in Illinois to serve the Latino community in their client’s native Spanish language. Adriana is also the incoming Board of Directors President for the Illinois Certification Board ✨

As a Trailblazer, she was among the first to break barriers creating opportunities and inspiring future generations of Latinas to dream bigger and lead boldly. 💖
