Each season, in addition to having essential needs met while being at Harmony House (safe shelter, three daily fresh meals, hygiene items, clothing, case management, advocacy and more), residents have the opportunity to participate in our engaging shelter programming.

This summer, Harmony House residents & families explored art, literacy, nutrition, culture, and community through a variety of programs developed by our Family Advocacy Team. Families spent 10 weeks creating alongside visiting artists through Growing Up in the Arts with the Springfield Regional Arts Council, enjoyed special character visits during sessions with Mosaic Arts Collective, learned healthy cooking skills through an MU Extension Snap program and participated in a Summer Reading Challenge supported by the Springfield-Greene County Library District. The season also included our first-ever Jumping into Summer Resource Fair, cultural celebrations, a visit from Dickerson Park Zoo, refreshments provided by Panera Bread, and a beautiful new mural for our Children's Intake room to create a more welcoming space for kid's coming to shelter by local artist Genevieve. As our Family Advocacy Program Manager Misty noted, "Both youth and parents enjoyed getting to know and work alongside visiting artists - learning new skills, and sharing their own history and love of the arts."

Harmony House is proud to be able to offer a supportive safe place for folks fleeing domestic violence - as well as opportunities to access relevant resources, and engage in meaningful celebrations and educational activities while in shelter. We're so grateful for our community collaborations and helping hands, each and every season! ☀️

We're excited to be launching a new version of our free Community Support Group, alongside the Greene County Family Justice Center, starting this fall!

This virtual group is designed for those who have experienced domestic violence, intimate partner violence and abuse. Led by a licensed therapist, this free, confidential and online group (for ages 18+, all gender identities welcome) will meet on Saturday mornings, from October 10th - November 7th.

Thank you for a wonderful Golden Hour Gala!
Our incredible Harmony House Young Professionals Board held their 3rd annual Golden Hour Gala at the end of August. We're proud to share that this sold out event surpassed the fundraising goal, and raised $51,460 of direct support to survivors of domestic violence. 💛

Lauren Barnas Inman, Harmony House Young Professionals Board Chair noted, "We are so grateful to everyone who showed up, gave generously and helped make this milestone possible. Every dollar raised helps Harmony House continue providing hope, safety and support to domestic violence survivors in our community. It’s an incredible honor to chair the Harmony House Young Professionals Board and play a small part in ensuring survivors have access to the critical, life-saving resources they deserve."

New episode! 🎧 Please note, this episode contains descriptions of domestic and sexual violence and child sexual abuse. Charity is joined by Community Education Coordinator Emily Stoinski of Safe Connections-St. Louis Metro Area, for a book discussion on the posthumous memoir, Nobody's Girl by survivor Virginia Giuffre. They discuss the parts of her story that were the hardest to read and the lessons to be learned in her pursuit of justice and advocacy for survivors. Safe Connections is one of the oldest organizations in St. Louis working to end domestic and sexual violence.
