𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐲 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝
Perhaps you've heard about the ancient shepherd Moses who came upon a bush that was burning, but not consumed by the fire. And when Moses stepped closer, he heard the voice of God telling him to remove his sandals, for he was standing on holy ground.

This unexpected encounter not only changed Moses' life, but the lives of countless thousands of other Israelites whose lives had been abused by a powerful autocrat. It's a very long story that covered many years and lots of traveling. (I'm going to give you a miniature summary of that.)

Maybe you can look back into your life and find a thread that appeared and disappeared and reappeared; and maybe it helps you understand how you became the person you are today.
Since we're together as a group of spiritually-minded folks who trust that Holiness, in whatever form, helps us and guides us, let's explore how our own highways and byways, however convoluted they might be, help us discover our own holiness. For the truth is, we're all standing on holy ground, whether we realize it or not.

We all have our stories -- the facts of our lives.
Where we come from.
How our families have ended up in the U.S.
What hurts we've suffered.
What victories we've earned.
Who we've lost.
How we've landed on the jobs and interests we've had.
How we've come to know the people closest to us.
What habits, tendencies or addictions have influenced or even controlled us.
How we were raised.

So yes. We all have stories. And most of us do, from time to time (or more often than that!), tell and retell our stories ... to gain sympathy, to justify, to empathize, or simply to explain who we've become or the choices we're making.

But there's a difference between remembering, retelling, and honoring our stories, on the one hand... and letting them define not only our past but also pre-ordain our future on the other.

On Sunday, let's consider this deceptively simple question:

Am I writing my next story? Or is my story writing me?

As the Light shines Brighter, what has been hidden will be exposed by the Divine Light, to then gladly be given over to the Holiness of Spirit.

It is all part of the Perfect Plan of Remembering The Truth of what I Truly Am.

This 4th of July is our 250th Anniversary…How are you celebrating? More importantly What are you celebrating?

We all know that the 4th of July honors the signing of the Declaration of Independence. When was the last time you deeply pondered the meaning of this sacred text on which our great nation was founded? I am currently reading “The Greatest Sentence Ever Written” by Walter Isaacson. It is short little book focusing on the second sentence of the declaration…

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights…Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness…

This is our mission statement; the founding idea from which all other concepts of patriotism flow. It is the promise of the idea of America. It is the premise on which we believe that many divergent people from all over the world can come together and live in harmony, prosper, and yet still hold for the common good of all.

I have come to believe that Patriotism in its truest sense is grounded in our ability to live up to the promise of the idea of America.

Please join me this Sunday as explore more deeply this sentence which touches my heart and brings tears to my eyes.
