July is Disability Pride Month and the 2026 theme is “The World Works Better with Us.” When people with disabilities are included and respected, communities work better for everyone. We are grateful for the early advocates that helped us gain equal access, accommodations, and fair treatment for everyone. Happy Disability Pride Month! 🧍‍♀️🧑‍🦼‍➡️🧑‍🦯🧍

We got to go on our very first parade float as an organization at the City of Webster Groves Fourth of July parade on Saturday! Our awesome next door neighbor, Sean (from Leritz Busy Bee Asphalt Paving), helped us create our float on his trailer, decked out with the perfect L’Arche blue waves. Thanks, Sean, for being such a great friend and neighbor to L’Arche! We ❤️ our community!

Leritz Busy Bee Asphalt Paving also did an awesome job paving our parking lot this spring, if you're looking to get some paving done!

We’re excited that for the second year in a row we’ve won the Top Workplaces award! This picture shows just our office administrative staff but we have about 70 employees that all collaborate to make L’Arche St. Louis a great place to work. We’re excited to feature more pictures of our brilliant team in the days to come. Thank you to our employees and congratulations on winning this award once again!

Lights, camera, action! We’ve kicked off a new summer program here at L’Arche - we’re making a movie! Kurt, one of our Core Members, expressed interest in being an actor so we thought we’d put our heads together and try to make a short film together this summer with the help of our friends Brandon and Patrick from Noeso Video (Brandon Sloan). Last week we spent some time for creativity warm ups before taking to a preliminary illustrated storyboard. Everyone threw out their best ideas, some with the help of communication tablets (!). We can’t wait to see what unfolds and share the final results! 🎬

This week, our assistants, house leaders and office staff are participating in TimeSlips Creative Care Facilitator Training (TimeSlips), learning innovative communication and engagement techniques that help build deeper connections with the people we support.

While TimeSlips is widely known for its impact in dementia care, the principles are equally valuable in supporting people with developmental disabilities. The approach encourages us to focus on abilities rather than limitations, to listen with curiosity, and to create opportunities for self-expression, participation, and belonging.

At L’Arche St. Louis, we believe that every person has a story worth sharing and gifts that enrich our community. We are excited to continue investing in training that helps our staff nurture those gifts and create communities where everyone belongs.

Thank you to our trainer, Caroline, and to TimeSlips!
