We’re excited for the fall semester!
Make plans to join us for our Rountree Day of Service this Saturday August 8 from 8:30-10:30!
We will be organizing and packing school supplies, organizing the book room, painting, and helping with playground clean up.
No matter your skill set we have a place for you to serve!
Note: We will be meeting and working at Rountree, not at UHBC.
“All the tax collectors and sinners were gathering around Jesus to listen to him. The Pharisees and legal experts were grumbling, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose someone among you had one hundred sheep and lost one of them. Wouldn’t he leave the other ninety-nine in the pasture and search for the lost one until he finds it? And when he finds it, he is thrilled and places it on his shoulders. When he arrives home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Celebrate with me because I’ve found my lost sheep.’ In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who changes both heart and life than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to change their hearts and lives.”
Luke 15:1-7 CEB
When was the last time you were uncomfortable? When was the last time God called you to do something for people who don’t look like you?
Pray: God, would you nudge me. Help me move beyond my “normal” circles. Disturb my spirit when I settle for comfort. Amen.

“Looking up, Jesus saw rich people throwing their gifts into the collection box for the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow throw in two small copper coins worth a penny. He said, “I assure you that this poor widow has put in more than them all. All of them are giving out of their spare change. But she from her hopeless poverty has given everything she had to live on.””
Luke 21:1-4 CEB
How should money relate to, shape, or serve the mission and vision of your life? How do your daily finance decisions work with God’s hope for people?
Pray: God, help me see all I have is not for my consumption. Help me see everything as a gift given from you. Help me generous as you are generous. Amen.
““You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how will it become salty again? It’s good for nothing except to be thrown away and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:13-16 CEB
Does your God-Sized hope bring salt and light into our world? What role does our church play the lives of our neighbors?
Pray: God, in my relationships and my daily life I want to be salt and light in all things. Help me be that. Amen.

This Wednesday will be our final session and we will wrap it up with "Wing Women." Make plans to join us!
“Afterward, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at a kiosk for collecting taxes. Jesus said to him, “Follow me.” Levi got up, left everything behind, and followed him. Then Levi threw a great banquet for Jesus in his home. A large number of tax collectors and others sat down to eat with them. The Pharisees and their legal experts grumbled against his disciples. They said, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn’t come to call righteous people but sinners to change their hearts and lives.””
Luke 5:27-32 CEB
It's always good to revisit why we do what we do. Think about it: why do people need Jesus? Why do people need the church? Why do people need our church?
Pray: God, help me sort out the answers to these questions. Give me a passion to run and follow hard after you. Amen.
