🎉 Celebrating 80 Years of Erlen Group! 🎉

In 1946, Joseph J. Griesemer started a quarry along Historic Route 66 and the Frisco Railroad in Springfield, Missouri. What began with crushed limestone eventually grew into something much bigger. In 1960, the first 250,000 square feet of underground warehouse space was created, beginning the transformation from rocks to real estate.

Over the decades, Springfield Underground was formed, The Frisco Building was acquired, and Cold Zone opened. In 2018, we added Umlaut Industrial Transloading and our family of companies became Erlen Group. In 2025 our quarry operations were brought together under Radix Quarries name. Since then, we've continued to grow with businesses across aggregates, logistics, and real estate.

But 80 years of Erlen Group is about more than our businesses. It's the team members that have worked hard, shared their talents, built relationships, and helped shape the company we are today. Some spent most of their careers with us, while others were part of our story for only a chapter.

As we celebrate 80 years, we're grateful for where we've come from, proud of where we are today, and excited for the people and opportunities that will shape what's next.

One year ago, Cold Zone opened. On Monday, the Governor of Missouri toured the facility.

Erlen Group built Cold Zone to keep pace with one of the region's fastest-growing manufacturers, Vital Farms, and the facility now has capacity to hold 220 million eggs, cold and ready to ship.

Governor Mike Kehoe toured Vital Farms on a previous visit. This stop showed the other half of the story: the local investment that keeps a national brand growing in Springfield.
