Our friends at MSPCA-Angell recently managed a situation where a high number of guinea pigs were living in a home and their owners needed help. Dakin was able to assist by taking some guinea pigs into our care here in Springfield.

We’d love to find these adorable little potatoes loving homes as soon as possible. Stop in and meet them! We’re open Tuesday - Saturday from 12:30 - 3:00.

In 2024, Cheddar and Sunshine went from vulnerable, underweight shelter kittens to healthy feline adventurers thanks to their incredible foster caregiver!

The shelter is a tough place for sick kittens to undergo medical treatment and recover from illnesses. Our foster homes make it possible for Dakin to say "yes" to the hundreds of kittens who enter our care every year, who otherwise have no place to go.

It was a GREAT day for dogs at Dakin! Our fee-waived event was so successful, almost all of our dogs found loving homes!

Ohana is hoping tomorrow will be her big adoption day — her fee will remain waived through tomorrow, 7/25! We’ll be open from 12:30 - 3:00 at 171 Union St, Springfield.

This adoption event isn’t just happening at Dakin — our friends at several other Massachusetts shelters are participating too! Check out MSPCA-Angell, Berkshire Humane Society, Boston Animal Control, Lowell Humane Society, Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center, and Worcester Animal Rescue League for information on available dogs, event dates, and hours.
