VFW Post 755 is celebrating a very special milestone this year — 105 years of serving our veterans, their families, and our community!

One thing we don’t always do well at our VFW Post is ask for money or donations.

We do our very best not to constantly have our hands out asking others to help fund our events and programs. We know there are so many organizations and causes out there asking for support, and we understand that everyone can only give so much.

But this year is a little different.

Our Annual Fundraiser and 105th Birthday Celebration is October 10th, and we would love to make this a birthday celebration that our Post, our families, and our community will always remember!

For 105 years, VFW Post 755 has been about more than just a building or an organization. It has been about family, friendship, veterans, community, food, fun, and coming together to support one another.

We could definitely use the help of our friends and family to help us make this event a success. If you know a business, organization, family, or individual who supports veterans, VFW Posts, or community events and may be willing to help sponsor or donate, we would be incredibly grateful if you would connect us with them.

Today, September 11th, is a day that carries a weight that words can hardly explain.
For many Americans, 9/11 is remembered through the images, the stories, and the lives that were forever changed that day. For those of us who have served in uniform—especially those of us who have seen combat—days like this carry another layer of meaning. They remind us of why we answered the call, the brothers and sisters we served beside, the sacrifices that were made, and the experiences that stay with us long after we take the uniform off.

Here at our VFW Post, we are proud to be 105 years strong this year. For more than a century, this has been a place where veterans have come together, shared stories, supported one another, and found a sense of belonging.

We are a Post made up of combat veterans. We understand that sometimes the hardest part of serving doesn't end when you come home. Some days are harder than others. Some memories never really leave. And sometimes, the people who understand what you're going through are the people sitting right beside you who have been there themselves.

That's what places like the VFW are about.

Tonight, we will be gathering at the VFW for our 9/11 Bike & Jeep Night. We invite our veterans, families, friends, riders, Jeep owners, first responders, and our entire community to come out and spend some time together as we remember September 11th and honor those who were lost, those who served, and those who continue to serve.

There is something meaningful about coming together on a day like this. Whether you're sitting around sharing stories, looking at the bikes and Jeeps, catching up with old friends, or simply spending time with people who understand, tonight is about community, remembrance, and standing together.

So come out and join us tonight. Bring your bike, bring your Jeep, bring your family and friends, and come be part of the VFW family. Most importantly, come together with us and help us remember.

As we remember September 11th and the many other dates of significance to those who have served, we also ask our community to remember the organizations that exist to support veterans year-round.

Please consider patronizing your local VFW—especially around these meaningful dates. Come through the doors. Have a meal. Attend an event. Bring a friend. Become a member. Donate when you can. Support the businesses and organizations that support your local Post.

Every dollar spent and every person who walks through our doors helps us continue our mission. It helps keep the doors open and the lights on. More importantly, it helps preserve a place where combat veterans can come together with others who understand them, get them, and know that sometimes you don't have to explain everything.

The VFW isn't just a building.

It's the people inside it.
It's the stories shared.
It's the friendships forged.
It's the hand on your shoulder when you need it.
It's a place to belong.

On this September 11th, we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and stand beside those who continue to carry the weight of service every day.

Never Forget.
Never Stop Supporting Our Veterans.
And Never Underestimate the importance of having a place where veterans can come home to one another.

This year marks 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001, and we invite the Springfield community to join us as we come together to remember and honor those who lost their lives that day.

On the morning of September 11, we encourage you to visit your neighborhood Springfield fire station and stand alongside our firefighters, City staff, police officers, and fellow community members for a brief remembrance and moment of silence.

You do not need to travel across town or attend a large ceremony. Join us in your own neighborhood, at your local fire station, as our community pauses together. Bring your family, your children, your neighbors, or simply come on your own. We want everyone who would like to take part to feel welcome.

Please arrive by 7:30 a.m. Brief remarks will begin at 7:45 a.m., followed by a moment of silence at 7:46 a.m., the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center 25 years ago.

Twenty five years later, we remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call, and make sure a new generation understands why we will never forget.
