The Battalion is hosted by Missouri State University, where it was founded in 1952 as the Department of Military Science and Leadership.
The Bear Battalion ROTC is comprised of Cadets from Missouri State University, Evangel, Southwest Baptist University, Drury and Ozarks Technical Community College. The Missouri State University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Bear Battalion is the foremost leadership development program in the Ozarks and Southern Missouri. We live the Army Values:

The Bear Battalion is comprised of students from Missouri State University, Evangel University, Southern Baptist University, Drury University and Ozarks Technical Community College. MSU ROTC has a long and proud tradition of producing leaders of character for the nation. 15 graduates have reached the rank of Brigadier General or higher. Students at any of the participating universities listed above can enroll in military science classes during their Freshman and Sophomore years without committing to military service. Prior to the beginning of their Junior year, those students wishing to compete for a contracted slot in the program may do so. If selected to continue with ROTC advanced courses, students will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army upon graduation and successful completion of all ROTC program requirements.

That’s a wrap on FTX! 🐻💪
Bear Battalion packed two days with an obstacle course, Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), basic marksmanship fundamentals, call for fire (CFF), hand gr***de familiarization and employment, day and night land navigation, and Situational Training Exercise (STX) lanes!
Our cadets worked hard, supported each other, and put their leadership skills into practice. Two days of valuable training and a lot to be proud of!! great work, Bears! 👏

This weekend, the Bears take on the Thundering Herd at Plaster Stadium! Before kickoff, Bear Battalion Cadets will be setting the tone by banging the wardrum for hours leading up to game time.
The beat starts with us. The Bears take it from there. 🐻🏈

A night to remember with the Bear Battalion 🐻✨
This year’s 74th Bear Battalion Military Ball held an extra special meaning as we honored 25 years of sacrifice since September 11, 2001. We remembered those we lost, honored those who answered the call to serve, and celebrated the traditions that came before us, the people beside us, and everything still ahead.
A huge thank you to Lieutenant General Charles T. Lombardo for spending the evening with us and sharing his words with our cadets! And of course, a night like this doesn’t happen without some pretty amazing people behind the scenes. Thank you to Barb Jones and Britney Blasingame, the Missouri State Jazz Trio, Harper Sheckler and Annsley Reeves, and Ms. Teri Trickey and the catering staff for making the night such a success!
And finally, thank you to all of our cadets, cadre, alumni, families, friends, and supporters who came out to celebrate with us. 🤎
