✨ Bringing Small Business to Life in the Classroom✨

A huge thank you to the owners of Kayu Sumbu Candle Company for visiting our Business students today! They shared what goes into running their small business, from daily operations and pricing to wholesale costs, selling prices, and the 5 P’s of marketing!

Students even learned the meaning behind their business name! 💡 “Kayu Sumbu” means “wood wick” in Indonesian. 🌿 They also brought along their different candle scents for students to smell and experience firsthand! 🕯️

It was a great opportunity for students to connect what we’ve been learning in class to an actual small business! 📉 We appreciate Kayu Sumbu for taking the time to share their experiences and knowledge with our students! 🧡

Students in Math engaged in another great STEM activity! Their goal was to work together to create the tallest tower out of Q-tips! They were given no adhesives and their tower had to stand alone! The winning team with the tallest Q-tip tower were given PBIS points! This was a great way to use Geometry skills and problem solving skills!

Students in Math played Congruent Triangles Trasketball!!!🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀 Students spent the first part of class learning about the different types of Postulates and Theorems that have to be true in order to have congruent triangles. We went through Guided Notes and discussed the difference between congruent triangles and similar triangles. Students then tested their knowledge in a head to head competition of Trasketball🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀. Students worked with groups to determine the answers to questions over congruent triangles, determining which postulate or theorem best fit the situation. The winning groups got to shoot baskets to win more points! ⛹️⛹️⛹️⛹️⛹️Overall the students got a better understanding of what makes triangles congruent while having fun!

🔺📐📏🧮Students in Math learned about Similar Triangles and participated in a matching activity! They had to determine which triangles are similar, and which ones were not similar based on angles and side lengths. The students began the lesson by participating in guided notes and learning about what makes triangle similar in the first place! They learned that similar triangles have all the same angles, however the side length will be different, but they must be proportional. They then put their knowledge to the test by participating in the matching activity where they sorted the different triangles into similar and not similar. This activity took geometric and problem-solving skills to be successful! 🧮📏📐🔺

A big thank you to Ashley and Roosevelt from Primerica for spending time with our Business students this week! 💼💰

Students had the chance to learn more about finances, saving, credit, and making smart financial choices as they prepare for life after high school. We appreciate Ashley and Roosevelt for sharing their knowledge, answering questions, and giving our students some real-world financial advice they can take with them beyond the classroom!📈

Thank you for investing your time in our students!💙
