It’s an intense watchmaking day here at Celeste Watch Company! My inventory is so low after the last three shows. But what a champagne problem! Rebuilding stock is fun too!

Day two of the Anacortes Arts Festival!

It’s been so much fun meeting fellow art lovers, introducing people to handcrafted watchmaking, and watching faces light up when they see how the shell catches the light.

If you haven’t made it down yet, today is another great day to explore. There are incredible artists throughout the festival, delicious food, live entertainment, and hundreds of beautiful handmade creations.

It’s been a rotor finishing day today. My raw rotors have been engraved with my logo and pockets to hold the shell inlay. Now I’m using a nano ceramic system to electroplated a protective finish. The creamsicle color in the jar is actually a soft gold - almost white gold when it dries. It will be fabulous! So much goes on behind the scenes in watchmaking!

For the past several weeks, I’ve been intensely working toward something that has felt both exciting and a little intimidating.

Now, it’s official.

I have entered two watches into the 2026 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious watch competition.

One of those entries is Monarch, submitted in the Challenge category. It represents years of refining my shell marquetry techniques, right down to the custom Tiger Pearl shell rotor visible through the sapphire caseback.

The second is Hummingbird, entered in the Artistic Crafts category. It features an extraordinary cloisonné enamel dial created by award-winning enamel artist Merry-Lee Rae, whom I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with.

As an independent watchmaker working from my studio in Springfield, Oregon, simply having these watches entered feels like an incredible milestone.

Now, a panel of international experts will select the nominees. If one of my watches is chosen, I’ll be heading to Geneva for the awards ceremony.

No matter what happens next, I’m proud to have these watches representing independent American craftsmanship on the world stage.

Three days go by so quickly.

I’ve spent the weekend sharing stories, helping people find meaningful gifts, changing watch bands, replacing batteries, and meeting so many extraordinary people. Thank you to everyone who has stopped by.

✨ Day Two at the Edmonds Arts Festival

One of my favorite things about festivals is watching people discover “their watch.”

Sometimes it’s love at first sight. Sometimes they walk around the entire show and come back hours later because they just can’t stop thinking about the hummingbird or the horse or the sea turtle.

That’s the fun of seeing them in person. Every shell dial is unique, and photos can never quite capture how they shimmer in the sunlight.

🌞 Day One at the Edmonds Arts Festival

The weather forecast is primo. Mid-70s, blue skies, and thousands of beautiful things to discover .

If you’re coming to the festival this weekend, I’d love to see you. I’ll be surrounded by watches made with genuine abalone shell and mother of pearl, each one handcrafted in my Springfield, Oregon studio. There are over 100 designs to explore, from hummingbirds and horses to dragons and ocean themes.

I’m on Dali Blvd, booth 423!

It’s been a long time coming but my custom rotors are finally ready! This particular Tiger Pearl inlay will adorn my monarch timepiece - fusing my pearl artistry concepts from the front to the back. It feels like a complete package now.

I was graced yesterday at the by master enamelist Merry-Lee Rae, the artist behind a selection of gorgeous cloisonné dials at the show. Come today to see them in person! These watches are very special, in Switzerland, you have to make an appointment to see a watch like this, but here at the show, you can take one home. There is nothing like them anywhere else.

This new monarch timepiece is a heartfelt tribute to my mom, who loved monarchs. One of my best yet, done in her colors and with her energy. All abalone shell inlaid in mother of pearl with stones for time markers and inside the milkweed flowers. See it first at the Windup Watch Fair in San Francisco this weekend!
