🚨 Americans for Pharma Reform Praises President Trump for Expanding Most Favored Nation Pricing to Medicaid Nationwide

Calls on Congress to Pass Most Favored Nation Pricing into Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Americans for Pharma Reform today praised President Donald J. Trump’s announcement that Most Favored Nation (MFN) pricing for prescription drugs will extend to Medicaid programs in all 50 states, a move that will lower drug costs for American families and taxpayers.

For decades, Americans have subsidized the rest of the world. Other countries have paid far less than the United States for the same prescription drugs, made by the same companies, while U.S. patients, taxpayers, and state Medicaid programs were left with a bill often times five to ten times higher. President Trump’s Most Favored Nation pricing policy ends that global freeloading and delivers real relief to American patients and consumers.

Today’s announcement brings America First pricing to a wide range of prescription drugs covered by Medicaid, ensuring that states and the federal government no longer overpay for medicines that cost a fraction as much abroad. Administration estimates projects savings of $64 billion for Medicaid programs over the next decade. Those savings will reduce costs for taxpayers and expand access to vital medications for the Americans who depend on Medicaid.

With President Trump taking bold action, Americans for Pharma Reform calls on Congress to immediately pass Most Favored Nation into law, cementing permanent relief and lower pricing for prescription drugs.
