Hospital Sisters Health System

Yesterday, we celebrated the groundbreaking and blessing of a new bed tower at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay, Wis.

The new six-story tower will add more than 100 patient rooms, expand ICU capacity and include new cardiovascular operating rooms and a cardiac procedural room to meet the growing needs of the community.

To make room for the new tower, an aging building on the hospital campus was demolished over the summer. In the Franciscan spirit of our founding Hospital Sisters, every step of this project has been rooted in environmental stewardship. Rather than transporting waste to landfills, we’ve recycled concrete on-site to use as foundational fill for the new tower. We’ve also donated medical equipment and other furniture to organizations like Hospital Sisters Mission Outreach and Greater Green Bay Habitat for Humanity.

This project is part of a historic $270 million capital investment that HSHS announced to Northeast Wisconsin in March 2025. The investment is also being used to fund a NICU renovation at HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital in Green Bay; renovation of the Women and Infants Center at HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan; and additional initiatives.

We are pleased to announce that Aryn Hunter, MBA, BSN, RN, has been named the first Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of HSHS St. John's Children's Hospital in Springfield. As CAO, Aryn will be responsible for overseeing nursing, operations and other organizational functions of the Children’s Hospital. Beginning July 19, she will guide the Children's Hospital through its next chapters by supporting and elevating the current work of its colleagues in delivering compassionate, quality care to the children and families who depend on HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital.
