Here’s something that catches a lot of parents off guard: new adult teeth are not going to look like the baby teeth they replace. 🦷

If your child’s incoming teeth seem larger, darker, or a bit duller in shade, that’s not a red flag 🚩it’s completely normal.

Baby teeth have a thinner, more translucent layer of enamel, which makes them appear brighter.
Permanent teeth have a thicker enamel layer, so a slightly deeper, more yellow-toned shade is actually the norm, not the exception.

Have a question about your child’s smile?

Drop it below, we love hearing from you!

Does your baby or toddler suck their thumb? 🤔

It’s totally normal! Most children do it to self-soothe and feel secure.

The key is timing. Catching the habit early and working on small, consistent changes makes it much easier to break! The longer it continues past age 4, the more it can affect the shape of the jaw and how teeth line up.

Here’s a tip that’s easy to miss: how much toothpaste you use actually matters. 🪥

For children who can’t spit yet, stick to a tiny smear about the size of a grain of rice. Once they’re able to, you can move up to a pea-sized dab.
This way, your child still gets fluoride’s protective benefits without swallowing more than they should.

Pin this one to your bathroom mirror as a reminder! 💙

Notice a new tooth growing in behind a baby tooth that hasn’t fallen out yet? 🦈🦷 That’s what we call “shark teeth,” and it’s more common than you’d think!

Most of the time, the baby tooth will loosen and fall out on its own within a few weeks as the permanent tooth pushes it out. Wiggling it gently can help move things along.

If it’s been sitting like that for more than a couple months, give us a call so we can take a peek. 💙
