We have a full week of events to celebrate our expansion starting Wednesday at 7pm with our first Footnote Salon discussing your cultural ideas for Springfield! Do you have thoughts on what Springfield needs? We’d love to hear them!

Thursday at 7 pm will be our July book club discussion of Caro Claire Burke’s “Yesteryear”.

Friday at 7pm, we are so excited to welcome Devin Thomas O'Shea to discuss his new book “The Veiled Prophet: Secret Societies, White Supremacy, and the Struggle for St. Louis”. We will have copies available for purchase and signing.

And then Saturday morning, join us for Saturday Stories with David L Harrison! We’ll have a craft and stories for kids! Arrow Art Supply is going to be here to lend a hand with making run pum pum drums!

Thank you to everyone who made it out to our expansion grand opening event. We’ve been so excited to show everyone the start of all we’ve been working on for our new space, and we can’t wait for everything else to come!

We have so many people to thank, and it took a small army of artists, friends, contractors, volunteers, and collaborators to pull it all together, but I just want to first thank and credit Harvey. We’ve basically been working all year long, every waking minute, we went directly from opening a video store to Harvey taking on devising and executing a plan to essentially open a new store (while also directing a play) and seeing her vision come together has been wonderful. We’ve begun to turn Bookmarx into the bookstore I’ve been aspiring to have for my 22 years in the book business, and that’s only due to collaboration with Harvey. I also need to thank our kids and kitty for their patience, late nights, and hard work over the last few weeks. It has been such a pleasure for me to experience Bookmarx transforming from Ole Bukowski’s Bookhole to a real family business over the last few years.

Today at 530 join us for our first event in the Footnote—our first Local Author Showcase in our new space!

Today is the day! And we have an unfortunate update to share, though all is well now 🤕

Yesterday, Ms. Cyrano was having a bit too much fun showing off her jumps between the ladder and the bookshelves when she knocked some things over and nearly severed the end of her tail. But the vet was able to patch her up and she's resting comfortably with a funny little shaved tail and the dreaded cone.

After a very unexpected turn of events, the show must go on! We will see you at the 5 PM ribbon cutting and let Ms. C decide if she's feeling up to joining us. If she graces our party with an appearance tonight, please mind the tail! And tell her that she's beautiful.
