🌱 GROWING something new in Northwestern FFA! 💙💛

Our Northwestern FFA students are taking agriculture to new heights this year with a new hydroponic growing project!

Using a plant tower and hydroponic growing system, students are learning firsthand how plants can be grown without traditional soil while exploring innovative techniques being used in modern agriculture. 🌿💧

Right now, the tower is growing carrots, tomatoes, and radishes — and today brought an exciting FIRST! 🎉

❤️ Our Tiny Radishes, a variety specifically suited for hydroponic growing, are officially ready to harvest!

From seed ➡️ sprout ➡️ harvest, students get to see the entire growing process happen right in front of them.

Hands-on learning. New technology. Real-world agriculture. 🌱

🇺🇸🌾 Northwestern FFA at the Ohio Statehouse! 🌾🇺🇸

Today, four Northwestern FFA members had the opportunity to attend the Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference at the Ohio Statehouse! The statewide conference is designed to help FFA members better understand important issues and prepare them to advocate for agricultural education and FFA.

Throughout the day, our students participated in a workshop focused on advocating for agriculture in real-world settings, connected with FFA members from across Ohio, enjoyed lunch and meeting members from other chapters, heard from guest speakers, and explored the Statehouse.💬🌱

Experiences like this are what FFA is all about — taking learning beyond the classroom and developing students through Premier Leadership, Personal Growth, and Career Success. 💙💛

We are proud of these Warriors for representing Northwestern FFA at the state level and taking advantage of another opportunity to learn, lead, connect, and advocate! 👏

💙💛 Northwestern FFA Leaders in Action! 💛💙

Today, members of the Northwestern FFA Officer Team had the opportunity to join the New Carlisle Rotary for lunch and share some of the incredible things happening within our FFA program!

Our student leaders took the floor to talk about the three pillars of agricultural education — Premier Leadership, Personal Growth, and Career Success — and how those come to life every day at Northwestern.

They highlighted Work-Based Learning, including the $98,000 FFA members earned through job placement activities last school year and connections with 40 local business partners. They also shared how every member develops an SAE project and how those experiences can contribute toward work-based learning credentials.

🌱 Students also shared the many ways they are learning by doing through Career Development Events — from soil and livestock judging to food science, public speaking, business management, ag mechanics, job interview skills, and more.

And, of course, they couldn’t talk about Northwestern FFA without sharing some of the traditions that make our chapter special — including the FFA Tator Hut, which takes approximately 120 volunteers to operate during its eight days at the Clark County Fair and helps support year-round programming and scholarships! 🥔

They wrapped up by giving Rotary members a look at what’s happening right now, including the Mum Sale, Soil Judging, leadership opportunities, chapter projects, National FFA Convention, and a special effort to recognize a Northwestern farm family with a Harvest Blessing this fall. 🍂🚜

👏 We are proud of these students for confidently representing Northwestern and telling the story of a program that connects the classroom, careers, leadership, and our community.

Northwestern FFA members had the chance to learn hands on out in a land lab at the Clark County Rural Soils contest. The team placed 2nd and Sophomore Abigail Webb finished 1st individually out of 62 competitors!

But we may be a little biased when we say the BEST way to enjoy a potato is hot out of the TATOR HUT — loaded up and served with a side of FFA pride! 💙💛

So on , we’re raising a fork to the little spud that has made a pretty BIG impact on generations of Northwestern FFA members. 🥔💙💛
