Tyrell Springer is a lifelong Springfield, MA native, basketball player, coach, entrepreneur, and youth advocate committed to giving back to the community that raised him.

A Springfield Central High School graduate, Tyrell was part of the 2012 Massachusetts State Championship team. He continued at Garden City Community College (NJCAA D1), earning Defensive Player of the Year, before playing at LSUS (NAIA D1), where he was recognized as an All-American. In 2022, Tyrell was inducted into the Springfield Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame.

Tyrell founded COMPETE 413 Athletics, providing free summer basketball training, meals, snacks, hydration, mentorship, and positive opportunities for local youth. He is also the owner of Unc’s Food Truck, launching this fall.

His commitment to youth began at 16 through the Boys & Girls Club, where he later served as Teen Director. He has continued working in youth-focused roles throughout Springfield and spent three seasons coaching at the High School of Commerce, helping lead the program to its first league championship in eight years during the 2025–26 season.

For Tyrell, Springfield is home. He takes pride in serving the same families and youth he has watched grow up and continuing to build opportunities within the community that raised him.
