✔ Stay calm!
✔ Listen without judgment if someone chooses to share.
✔ Document concerning observations if appropriate. (Check the link below)
✔ If someone is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement or emergency services.
✔ If you're unsure, seek guidance from the National Human Trafficking Hotline or local victim service providers.

💡Remember: You don't need to investigate the situation yourself. Your role is to notice, support, and connect people with the appropriate resources.

➡️ What Pulls Someone into Human Trafficking?

Human trafficking doesn't usually begin with threats or violence. It often begins with false promises.

‼ Pull factors are the opportunities or promises traffickers use to lure someone into a situation that appears safe, exciting, or life-changing—but ultimately leads to exploitation.

🚨 Not every job offer or new relationship is dangerous. The key is recognizing when someone is using deception, manipulation, or false promises to gain control over another person.

Traffickers know how to identify unmet needs and target individuals who may be searching for security, connection, or opportunity.

‼️ It's important to remember: vulnerability is not weakness. Many people experience push factors without ever becoming victims of trafficking. ‼️

➡ Human trafficking rarely begins with force. More often, it begins when someone is facing challenges, unmet needs, or difficult circumstances that make them vulnerable to exploitation.

➡ On Monday we shared how traffickers exploit these vulnerabilities and false promises. They identify needs, build trust, and present themselves as the solution before gradually gaining control.

PULL FACTORS: What are some things that pull them like a magnet into exploitation?

➡ While push factors increase vulnerability, pull factors are the promises, opportunities, or perceived benefits that draw someone toward a situation that may not be what it seems.

These offers may seem genuine at first. In many cases, traffickers spend time building trust and creating emotional connections before exploitation occurs (Remember grooming ‼️).

🚩 The opportunity itself isn't always the danger—the danger comes when someone uses that opportunity to manipulate, control, or exploit another person.

PREVENTION IS POSSIBLE! It starts with recognizing the tactics early! YOU CAN RESPOND through awareness! 🛡

WHO ARE THE TRAFFICKERS?

When people think of human traffickers, they often imagine strangers lurking in the shadows. In reality, traffickers are frequently someone the victim knows and trusts.

➡There is not a specific profile of a trafficker.
BUT someone who takes advantage of and exploits another person vulnerability.

🚩 Common tactics include:
• Love and affection ("love bombing")
• Promises of money, housing, or opportunities
• Isolation from family and friends
• Threats, intimidation, or guilt
• Creating dependence on the trafficker
Human trafficking often begins with a relationship—not an abduction.

🔎 The more we understand who traffickers can be, the better we can protect ourselves and others.
