September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month.

Thyroid cancer is the 12th most diagnosed type of cancer in the United States. It accounts for more than 45,000 cases annually and about 2,300 deaths. Fortunately, for those with the disease - and their loved ones - the five-year survival rate is 98.5%, largely unchanged over the past 15 years.

September is Leukemia Awareness Month.

Leukemia is a cancer of the blood and the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and the lymphatic system. It occurs when blood cells acquire DNA mutations that cause the number of the body’s white blood cells to radically increase, crowding out the red blood cells and platelets the body needs to remain healthy.

Bispecific T-cell engager (BiTE) therapies have moved beyond research settings into both academic and community oncology practices. Yet some practices hesitate to offer them due to concerns about complexity, cost and potential side effects.

In response, American Oncology Network (AON) created the Bispecific T-Cell Therapy Educational Series, a four-part virtual program that runs through December to provide practical guidance on administering and managing BiTE therapies in the community setting.
