Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001.

We honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, the survivors, and the first responders who showed extraordinary courage on one of our nation’s darkest days.

Twenty-five years later, we also remember the way people came together — neighbors helping neighbors, communities supporting one another, and ordinary people showing extraordinary compassion.

May we continue to carry that spirit forward by looking out for one another, choosing kindness, and remembering the difference even small acts of care can make.

We will never forget.

Never underestimate the power of something small, especially when that something makes another person smile.💛🐝

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder that caring for one another doesn’t always require a big gesture. A kind word. A fist bump. A little silliness. A few minutes of someone’s time. They all count.

Our very own Dr. Bee stopped by our children’s unit this week with members of our outpatient team for hugs, dancing, fist bumps and a few small treats to celebrate some jobs well done over the weekend.

And judging by the smiles, Dr. Bee understood the assignment.

This month, we encourage you to look for the little ways you can brighten someone’s day. Small things can carry more weight than we realize.

Access saves lives.

We’re grateful to the City of Springfield and Springfield Fire Department for expanding 24/7 access to naloxone throughout our community.

In an opioid overdose, minutes matter. Making naloxone readily available gives family members, friends, neighbors, and bystanders the ability to respond while emergency help is on the way.

More than 25 naloxone distribution boxes are now available throughout Springfield, including at 13 fire stations — available anytime, no questions asked.

Please share. You never know who may need this information.

Opioid overdoses continue to affect individuals and families throughout our community. Because many ODs occur before emergency responders can arrive, increasing access to naloxone, which reverses the effects of an opioid OD, saves lives.

More than 25 24/7 naloxone distribution boxes are now available at various locations throughout Springfield. Thirteen of those are at Springfield, MO Fire Department stations. The boxes are checked and refilled as needed to help ensure continued access.

If you, a family member or someone you know could benefit from having naloxone on hand, please feel free to visit a fire station any time to obtain a naloxone kit, no questions asked.
