šæ Week TWO in Tiny Trails!
This week, our Tiny Trails friends explored areas with babbling water and leafy underbrush, discovering some frogs along the way!
We created natural opportunities to work on anticipating language through songs and repetition, and used animal noises and sounds to support early phonemes and joint attention with communication. š¬š±
One of our favorite moments? Pretending to be ducks while singing "Five Little Ducks" and having parents call their children back with a "quack quack quack!"
Tiny Trails is all about giving little learners opportunities to play, explore, communicate, and growāwithout communication ever feeling forced.
šæ Curious about Tiny Trails? You don't have to commit to the full program to see if it's a good fit! Families can join us for a single session for only $30 and try it out.
Send us a message to learn more or join us for an upcoming Tiny Trails adventure! š

What does a therapy space look like?
At Chickadee Chatter, there isnāt just one answer.
Sometimes itās a cozy office. Sometimes itās a backyard, a treehouse, or beside the pond. Sometimes weāre exploring the farm, learning outside, or connecting virtually from home.
Each space gives us different opportunities to play, explore, communicate, problem-solve, and connect, allowing us to think intentionally about the environment that best supports each learner.
Meaningful communication doesnāt ONLY happen sitting at a therapy table. It happens while climbing, creating, discovering, talking, playing, and experiencing the world together.
From The Nest to the Treehouse, the Rackliff Family Farm to the great outdoors, our therapy spaces are designed to meet learners where they are, in more ways than one.

šæ A little reintroductionāand a little more about the heart behind Chickadee Chatter.
Iām Katherine: a Speech-Language Pathologist, Outdoor Therapist, mom, lifelong Mainer, and the founder of Chickadee Chatter.
My work is rooted in the belief that some of the most meaningful learning happens when kids have the opportunity to move, explore, connect, and experience the world around them.
As an SLP, Iām always thinking about communication. As an Outdoor Therapist, I see endless opportunities for learning outside. And as a mom, I know how important it is for the strategies we give families to actually fit into real life.
Iām also lucky to collaborate with my husband, Jake, a Registered Maine Guide. Together, we combine our different backgrounds and skills to create experiences that support kids and families while giving back to the Maine community we both call home. š²
Because at the end of the day, I donāt just want kids to practice skills.
I want them to use those skills while making friends, trying something new, solving a problem, exploring a trail, getting a little muddy, and simply being kids. šæ
Thatās the heart behind Chickadee Chatterāand Iām so glad youāre here. š¦

šæ Week One in Tiny Trails!
This week, our Tiny Trails friends met one another and explored their new space full of exciting things to discover!
Along the way, we created natural opportunities to work on turn-taking, safe boundaries, and parent-modeled pacing and language expansion through play, movement, and time outdoors. š¬š±
One of our favorite moments? Building sandy towers (decorated with fern leaves, sticks and stones) and pretending to be ants while marching in the sand, singing "The Ants Go Marching."

Our first Tiny Trails adventure kicked off today! Building Sandy structures, while marching like ants through our anthills. Lots of bubbles and babbling while learning about Parentese, pausing and reducing pressure while communicating.
Itās not too late to join us! Enroll your little one now at chickadeechatter.com/tinytrails!
Welcome to our Chickadee Treehouse!
A place where the indoors meet nature, and play becomes the path to connection and growth.
šæ Just one of the many spaces we use to help your childās communication confidence take flight.
Ready to help your childās voice take flight? Send us a message to get started.

Speech Solutions Families ā We Need Your Voice š
Over the past several months, we have been working behind the scenes to learn as much as we can about proposed changes to CMS reimbursement rates and to understand what these changes could mean for Speech Solutions and the families we serve.
If these reimbursement changes move forward, the impact could be significant. For practices like ours, continued reductions in reimbursement make it increasingly difficult to cover the actual cost of providing high-quality therapy services. Ultimately, these changes could affect access to care, therapist availability, and even which insurance plans we are able to continue accepting in order to keep our doors open and continue serving our community.
We donāt want families to lose access to the therapy their children need. This is why your voice matters so much right now.
If speech therapy has made a difference in your childās life, please scan the QR code and share your story. Weāll help turn your experience into a letter that can be shared with federal policymakers so they can understand the real-life impact these decisions have on children, families, and the providers who care for them.
It only takes a few minutes, but your story can make a difference. š
Please share this post and help us advocate for continued access to speech therapy.
