We qualified 8/15.
Heat race: started 4th finished 4th.

McNeely to make Road to the Dome debut

Randy McNeely of Louisville, Illinois, will make his Road to the Dome debut this Sunday night at Coles County Speedway in Mattoon, Illinois.

While McNeely has primarily competed in B-Mod competition throughout his career, the 2026 season has provided a handful of bright spots for the 5M team. McNeely’s best finish of the season came in the B-Mod portion of the 4th Annual Jay Jones Memorial at Red Hill Raceway in May, where he recorded a third-place finish.

The 5M camp has endured its share of ups and downs this season, but the team appears to be finding some momentum at the right time. McNeely recently scored a ninth-place finish at Brownstown Bullring before advancing to a seventh-place finish in the B-Main during the .38 Special at Charleston Speedway this past weekend.

However, the biggest storyline surrounding McNeely’s Road to the Dome appearance dates back to last season.

McNeely was invited to compete in the inaugural Road to the Dome in 2025, but his opportunity never made it to the starting grid. During feature competition at Red Hill Raceway the day before the event, McNeely was involved in a hard rollover crash on the backstretch entering Turn 3. The incident not only ended McNeely’s weekend, but also brought his 2025 racing season to an early conclusion.

In their Facebook announcement Wednesday, the 5M team expressed their excitement about finally getting the opportunity to compete in the event.
“Last year we got the invite to the first ever Road to the Dome, but we didn’t get a chance to make it because of the wreck. This year we were given another opportunity by Brian Rieck to try it again! We’re beyond excited to throw our name in the hat for this star-studded event! We now have a chance to punch our ticket to the Gateway Dirt Nationals!”

Now, nearly a year later, McNeely will finally get his chance to take the green flag at the Road to the Dome and a chance to race at the Gateway Dirt Nationals. The 5M team will look to put last year’s disappointment behind them and make the most of their long-awaited debut at Coles County Speedway.
