One of the most common—and completely overlooked—areas for energy loss is the attic hatch. It is considered a high-priority issue that costs you money in both the summer and winter. If your hatch feels warm in the winter or cool in the summer, you likely have a problem. You need to make sure you have two things:

✅ A solid seal: Look for a gasket around the lip of the opening to stop air leakage.

✅ An insulated cover: Make sure there is a thick batt of insulation attached to the back of the hatch lid.
