Supporting patients also means supporting the people who care for them. 💙
For Mary Sattler, SSM Health Adult Day Services in Fond du Lac provided a safe, engaging environment for her husband, Dwight, as he navigated dementia, while also giving her peace of mind and the support every caregiver deserves.
Through activities like exercise, brain games, storytelling, outings, and social engagement, participants have opportunities to stay active, connected, and engaged. The program also provides nursing support, medication management, personal care, and a structured environment tailored to each individual's needs.
As communities across the country face the growing impact of dementia and other chronic conditions, programs like SSM Health SAdult Day Services play an important role in helping people remain active, connected, and independent for as long as possible.
While SSM Health Adult Day Services is unique to the Fond du Lac community, the impact reflects something seen across SSM Health every day: caregivers finding innovative ways to support patients and families through every stage of life's journey.

A global team led by SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, MO, affiliated with the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, successfully completed one of the most complex and rare pediatric care journeys in modern medicine: separating craniopagus (conjoined at the head) twins. This condition occurs in about 1 in 2.5 million live births, and accounts for only 2% to 6% of all conjoined twins.
This effort was made possible by a global partnership between World Pediatrics, Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, as well as Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, and Lola Children’s Home and Ethiopian Airlines in the twins’ home country.
Hiyab and Wuhbto were born in Aksum, Ethiopia, connected at the head. Today, thanks to this partnership, they begin their next chapter as two separate girls as they continue their recovery under the care of Ranken Jordan and World Pediatrics. As their needs continue to evolve, the partnership of all these organizations and support surrounding them will continue. No single organization could have made this journey possible. Together, these partners transformed an extraordinary medical possibility into a real pathway to care.

What does housing have to do with health?
A lot, actually.
When people have a safe, secure place to live, they are better positioned to access jobs, transportation, education, health care and other resources that support well-being.
That's why we were proud to invest in projects like The Bankston Apartments in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.
The development adds 40 workforce housing units, including 30 reserved for households earning at or below 80% of Dane County's Area Median Income, helping expand housing opportunities in our community.
We're grateful for the partnerships that made this project possible and proud to support efforts that help create healthier futures for the people and communities we serve.

For more than two decades, Dr. Lucio has cared for patients and served communities across Mid-Missouri. Since joining the medical staff in 1999, he has held a variety of leadership roles and has helped advance quality care and strengthen the hospital's commitment to those we serve.
As a physician leader, Dr. Lucio brings firsthand experience caring for patients and understanding the needs of families, caregivers, and the community.
