UFCW Local 88
UFCW Local 88 represents the meat, deli, and seafood workers in grocery stores, meatpacking plants, and butcheries across Greater St. Louis.
It's Election Day everyone! Make sure you get to the polls before they close at 7PM.
We want to take this time to let everyone know the significance of Amendments 4 & 5 and why we are recommending to vote NO on both measures.
Amendment 4 will do away with how we do our citizen initiative petitions, essentially destroying our power as Missourians to have a say in our government. If this passes, as much as 5% of the state could prevent us from getting ballot measures that the majority of people want. As a Union, this means we will see Right-to-Work come back to Missouri and would make it extremely difficult to fight back against it.
Amendment 5 will repeal our state income tax, leaving a massive hole in our budget that will result in raising sales tax on working people and their families. With working people already struggling to get by, this will shift the tax burden on to them.
In summation, Vote NO on Amendments 4 & 5 so we can keep power in the hands of working people and prevent tax hikes on our daily needs. Thank you for all that you do and let's fight for a better life for all of us!

Today, we were supporting our our post office workers at APWU - The American Postal Workers Union who still continue to face threats from efforts to privatize our mail and to bust the unions that protect them.
Local 88 stands in solidarity with our postal workers and will always be there to support them.

Over the weekend, we went canvassing door to door to inform people about the upcoming primary election on August 4th. We have two amendments on the ballot that pose a serious threat to workers in Missouri.
We recommend voting NO on Amendment 4 to protect our democracy maintaining majority rule and No on Amendment 5 to put an end the tax increases on working people and their families.
Make sure your voice is heard next week and tell Jeff City politicians that We the People control our own destiny!

VICTORY! ✊
After 83 days on the picket line, our Teamsters at Breakthru Beverage stood strong, stayed united, and WON.
Today, the 56 members of Teamsters Local 688 overwhelmingly ratified a historic new contract after the company backed away from every proposal that threatened our core contract protections.
Together, our members secured:
✅ A 4-year agreement with strong wage increases
✅ Reopening Health & Welfare negotiations within 90 days
✅ Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a paid holiday
✅ 40 hours of paid sick leave
✅ A pathway for casual employees to earn seniority
✅ Most importantly, Breakthru withdrew every proposal targeting our longstanding Teamster contract language.
This victory wasn't handed to us—it was earned by every member who walked that picket line through the heat, rain, and uncertainty for 83 days. It was strengthened by the unwavering support of our fellow Teamsters, the labor movement, elected officials, and our community.
When workers stand together, we win.
Congratulations to every one of our members. You showed what solidarity looks like, and today you return to work stronger than ever.
Solidarity works. win.

Today we joined nationalnurses at SLU Hospital to demand they bring back Jessica and Earline who were fired for exercising their right to organize.
Tell SSM to reinstate these brave women and to back off of workers trying to make a better life for nurses and their patients.
We will be open until 6pm tonight at Local 655 and Local 88, so there is still plenty of time to go to either hall to get your backpacks and lunchboxes!
