To those celebrating the Jewish holiday Simchat Torah, “Chag Sameach" from Covenant Place and the Mirowitz Center.

Today, FEL (Friends Enjoying Life) and GGs (Gals on the Go), the Mirowitz Center’s men’s and women’s groups, enjoyed “Just for Us” at the New Jewish Theatre, followed by an interesting talkback with NJT Artistic Director Rebekah Scallet and the show’s star, Jacob Flekier. The play explored antisemitism, identity, empathy, and what happens when comedian Alex Edelman comes face-to-face with a group of white nationalists.

The evening wrapped up with dinner at Pasta House, where the group enjoyed more conversation and good company.

Today at the Mirowitz Center, learners put their cybersecurity knowledge into practice during an interactive workshop with experts from Cyber Sages STL. They received hands-on guidance and practical support, brought their questions, reinforced their skills, and left with greater confidence in protecting themselves online. Co-sponsored by AARP.

Today at the Mirowitz Center, Barnes Bradshaw of Historically Speaking brought the moral reckoning of the Nuremberg courtroom to life in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the October 1, 1946, verdict. We learned how the tribunal confronted the scope of N**i atrocities, establishing enduring precedents for international justice and the understanding of crimes against humanity.

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg verdict, don’t miss Nuremberg (2025) on Friday, 10/2, at 1 PM. Running time: 2 hours, 28 minutes.

This gripping historical drama brings the Nuremberg Trials to the screen through the experiences of U.S. Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek), who is assigned to evaluate N**i leaders in custody, including Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe). At the same time, chief prosecutor Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon) works to establish the groundbreaking international tribunal that will put the N**i leadership on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Based on Jack El-Hai’s nonfiction book The N**i and the Psychiatrist, Nuremberg offers a compelling look at the people and events behind one of the most important trials in history.

Leora Balinsky, chaplain at JFS St. Louis, led a cozy Mirowitz Center program today under the Jewish Federation’s sukkah. We explored how Sukkot’s timeless messages continue to resonate today, using religious texts to delve into the holiday’s spiritual themes, rituals and symbolism. What a meaningful and interactive way to celebrate Sukkot! 🌿🍋
