A garment doesn’t go from an idea to production on design alone.

Behind every successful product is a tech pack: the document that transforms creative ideas into clear manufacturing instructions.

“A tech pack bridges the gap between design and manufacturing.”

Without one, factories are left to make assumptions that can lead to production delays, inconsistent quality, and unnecessary revisions. Yet, by having one, every team involved has the information needed to produce a garment with greater accuracy and consistency.

If you’ve ever wondered what goes into a tech pack, who creates one, or whether you can manufacture without one, our latest blog answers those questions and explains why it’s one of the most important tools in apparel development.

The true cost of a garment is measured by more than the materials used to make it.

It reflects months of product development, thoughtful sourcing, skilled craftsmanship, quality assurance, and the global supply chains that connect concepts to consumers.

As the apparel industry continues to evolve, understanding what drives manufacturing costs helps brands make more informed decisions and build stronger products.

At Stars Design Group, we’re proud to support brands through every stage of that process.

A great design doesn’t automatically become a great garment.

Technical design is what brings apparel to life by ensuring every measurement, material, and construction detail is ready for production. The result? Better fit, fewer mistakes, and more consistent quality.

Learn why technical design is essential to successful apparel manufacturing in our latest blog.

Our team and interns recently had the opportunity to tour the Missouri Historical Society Library & Research Center’s apparel collection, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into preserving and curating historic garments.

We learned the stories behind pieces spanning different eras and saw firsthand how fashion reflects history, craftsmanship, and culture. One of the most memorable garments was a custom Balenciaga ensemble commissioned by a St. Louis socialite, who traveled all the way to Paris to have it made. Decades later, it remains in remarkable condition, a true testament to the value of exceptional craftsmanship and investing in high-quality garments.

A huge thank you to the Missouri Historical Society for sharing their expertise and giving us an inspiring look at the history of apparel. Experiences like these remind us that great design doesn’t just follow trends, it stands the test of time.
