3 things you can do NOW to make future long-term care decisions easier. 👇

You don't have to know exactly what the future holds to start planning for it.

1️⃣ Know your wishes.
Where would you want to live? Who would you want involved in your care? What matters most to you if your health or independence changes? Start thinking—and talking—about it now.

2️⃣ Get your important documents in order.
Make sure you know where your key documents are and consider whether you have the legal documents you need to make your wishes known, such as a power of attorney or advance directive.

3️⃣ Start the conversation.
Talk with the people who may one day help you make decisions. It might feel awkward now, but it's a whole lot easier to have these conversations around the kitchen table than in the middle of a crisis.

Planning ahead doesn't mean you're expecting the worst. It means you're giving yourself—and the people who care about you—a little more direction when it matters most. ❤️

So… what does an ombudsman actually do? 🤔

An ombudsman is an advocate for people living in long-term care.

They help residents understand their rights, listen when something isn’t going right, investigate concerns and complaints, and work with residents and facilities to resolve problems.

Think of them as a resident’s advocate and a resource when they need someone in their corner.

And if you’re not living in long-term care but are trying to figure out your options, that’s where VOYCEconnect comes in. Our specialists can help you understand different levels of care, provide general information about paying for care, and connect you with resources to help you make informed decisions.

Different needs, different kinds of support — but one goal: helping people navigate long-term care with more information, confidence and advocacy.

Apparently, it’s kinda chic to be prepared. ✨

Knowing your rights. Asking questions. Having the hard conversations. Knowing where to turn when you need help.

Aging comes with a lot of things we don’t always want to talk about — but being informed makes navigating them a whole lot easier.

Swipe through for a few things we think are very in right now. 😉
