Art Deco King Lear 🎨 It’s not every day you get to paint your professor! Jason Stahr taught me set design while I was just a young college (brat) with some paint brushes dreaming big and trying to figure it out. We’ve done more shows together over the years than we probably remember now and I have so much gratitude for the space he always gave me to learn how to build crazy ideas. So glad we could finally honor the King! 👑 Go see him play King Lear at this weekend!
Also thank you for always making coming back to work at MBU feel so exciting. It’s amazing to see how far the program has come backstage in just a few years with Will’s guidance. Go see his beautiful design this weekend!! 🔨🔥

Pain is a language.✨🎗️❤️🩹
You learn to speak the language as you experience it yourself. It comes with the gift of being able to connect with anyone else that can speak the language too. It’s much more than words and it doesn’t matter where you come from. Anywhere in the whole world—Pain is Pain.
It doesn’t ever feel like a beautiful thing, until it is: when someone else can speak your pain language✨ Reminding you that in your deepest painful places, you’re not alone there. There isn’t a greater way to be seen and known than through the language of pain, which creates more love through understanding—A beautiful thing.✨

St. Joseph Croatian Catholic Church in Soulard St. Louis, est. 1904. 🇭🇷
My partner’s Dad’s parents got married in this church decades ago so it has become tradition in the family in recent years to support the church’s local events. I drew this for Doug’s Dad for Christmas as his father’s father would have been 100 this coming birthday had he not passed unexpectedly young. How we cherish those we’ve loved and lost keeps them alive and with the living. That can be as simple as a “hey dad” passing a reminder in a hallway, or sitting in a pew where they once sat 🤍✨
