Through our partnership with United Way of Greater St. Louis, we’re able to provide free education that supports immigrant families, and create opportunities that build a bright future for our community. Together, we’re part of a network of more than 150 local nonprofits making a lasting difference across our region.

Today, the U.S. celebrates Constitution Day & Citizenship Day. Each year, there are IHELP students working toward their U.S. Citizenship. Since IHELP began, over 200 students have become citizens! Hear what one student shared as she wrapped up her time in the program:

Today, we're celebrating the start of our third cycle as a United Way Safety Net Agency. The United Way's support has been highly impactful for IHELP's growth over the years. Their support also includes valuable resources and professional development opportunities, and we're so grateful for their partnership as we serve the Greater St. Louis region!

Another theme of Welcoming Week this year is Equitable Access - IHELP pursues equity in the form of equitable access to English education!

The story of IHELP started with a vision for connecting isolated immigrant and refugee women with the wider St. Louis community. Learning English has opened the door for so many to make new connections. IHELP tutors are some of the first points of contact in this process, and we're thankful to play a part in these relationships.

In St. Louis, one way you can create a welcoming community is by becoming an IHELP volunteer. Our volunteers are people who want to ensure immigrants and refugees feel welcome in our community. Week in and week out, spend time with someone whose culture and language are different from your own, and create a space where that difference is not a barrier to connection. ihelpstl.org/volunteers

🌎 We’re starting Welcoming Week Welcoming America with a special live taping of Mosaic Stories featuring South Korean-born Saint Louis Art Museum Director Min Jung Kim, in conversation with longtime St. Louis journalist Charlie Brennan. 🎙️

We're thankful to be chosen by Prana Yoga as the featured nonprofit for their donation-based 108 Sun Salutations event! Join Prana Yoga Teachers in Training for 108 Sun Salutations to welcome in the autumn season. You will be guided through the practice while learning about the significance of the number 108, and have a chance to learn about IHELP. A water refill station and light snacks will be provided. Please bring your own yoga mat and water bottle.
