Getting your lawn ready for fall?

Late summer is a great time to start planning your fall lawn care, but a little timing goes a long way. Applying fertilizer before a heavy rain can wash chemicals into storm drains, streams, and rivers, where they can impact water quality.

Check the forecast, follow the label directions, and help keep our local waterways healthy with every application.

: On August 1, 1993, the Mississippi River at St. Louis reached a record-breaking crest of 49.6 feet during the Great Flood of 1993. To put that in perspective, that’s enough water to fill a bowl the size of Busch Stadium in just 70 seconds.

While the flood crest during the spring of 2019 reached 45.93 feet, it remains one of the highest and most prolonged flooding events in recent memory.

Events like these remind us of the power of the river and the importance of ongoing investments in infrastructure to protect our region.
