Adverse Childhood Experiences, or ACEs, affect our physical and mental health. Those effects can be passed from one generation to the next. The science of ACEs reveals opportunities for improvement, especially for children and adults.

Join us on September 1st, from 9-10:30 am, for an in-person presentation that will review ACEs research and introduce PCEs (Positive Childhood Experiences). We will explore specific ways to help ensure that PCEs are more prevalent and improve the overall health of our communities.

This week, PreventEd's Director of Advocacy Adam McBride sits down with Jenny Armbruster to explain the current state of cannabinoids in Missouri. He mentions the need to advocate at all levels of government for true regulation of these products. While licensed dispensaries are the go-to for most, people are still able to purchase misleading and commercially camouflaged cannabinoids at a local gas station. The call to action on this issue has been around since 2018, and, thankfully, Missouri legislation is starting to head in the right direction. Through educational and advocacy opportunities, PreventEd's mission aims to empower young adults to continue to make smart decisions about cannabis use, especially with school starting up soon.

On July 13th, the Governor of Missouri signed Senate Bill 878 into law, marking a monumental milestone for healthcare and addiction prevention in our state. Starting January 1, 2027, the law will ensure that patients and doctors are in the driver's seat when choosing the safest, most effective path to healing.

At PreventEd, our mission is to prevent and reduce the harms of alcohol and other drug use through education, intervention, and advocacy. Removing insurance barriers to nonopioid treatment ensures that Missourians have a safer path for pain management by reducing initial exposure to addictive substances and stopping the cycle of opioid misuse before it can begin.

Thank you to Governor Kehoe, legislators, and partners who worked alongside us to make this prevention milestone a reality!
