We got to meet Kadanoff twice. Once while we were a grad student in the Penn State physics department and Kadanoff was on an external committee brought in by the dean to figure out WTF was wrong with the department. And, a few years later when we were working as a researcher at the University of Georgia, and he was a speaker at a workshop on the kinetics of gelation and aggregation.

We never met Billingsley, but we learned probability from his classic textbook, and used his other books in our research.
